Give Dak $20 million per year and make the rest incentives

I don't think most here expect to see Dak go anywhere. He's smart enough to know he is the luckiest man in football to be the Cowboys quarterback.
But he's just not ready for big money, and perhaps by incentivizing his contract, he can get the big money while getting better. He deserves more than he's been paid, but he's just not at the point at which he deserves to automatically receive the big money when he has failed to deliver so often.
SO, guarantee him $20 million per year for two years, and give him an additional $5 million for winning the division. Give him an additional $2 million for each playoff win if he starts and wins. And $6 million if he wins the Super Bowl as the starter.
Dak seems to believe that he is entitled to a huge contract, but he hasn't earned one.
I just think it's only fair that he be given the opportunity to earn what he's asking for while showing us that he isn't out for a free ride.
This would eliminate the statistical battle, and put the onus on him to deliver.
I think it's fair.

Why do you think this is a fair deal? There is no way he would sign something this bad when he is going to get guaranteed 32m just by taking the FA tender. Good lord!

You need to go back, reread your post, and then slap yourself.

I think it's fair.

Like Clint Eastwood famously said in Unforgiven, fair got nothin’ to do with it.

He either gets what he wants or he plays on the tag. Dak isn’t even paying attention at this point, you’re negotiating directly with the agent - and this particular agent likes to bust the nuts of owners.

Let’s be Todd France for a minute. Jerry took DLaw and Zeke both to the wire, then caved. And when I say caved, I mean complete cave; Jerry didn’t get a single thing on his wishlist. In fact, if he had signed either of them earlier, it would have been cheaper.

So if that’s the guy on the other side of your negotiating table, why would you concede anything? You play hardball, because dude knows he’s 77 years old and doesn’t have much time left and he has no appetite to hold up his team’s progress for money. Everyone knows that. So just press the old man and he’ll cave like a wet teepee.

As long as we're just making up stuff that'll never happen why stop at $20 million? Offer him the league minimum, $10 million for winning the division, another $10 million for winning the conference, and $15 million more for winning a Super Bowl.

I think it's fair. Heck, let's pay the entire team that way. :muttley:

Nothing either of you spew is going to remotely happen re: Dak. This isn't about being a lover or a hater. It's just living in the real world.

For pro athletes, incentives are added to guarantees, not replaced.

Why would he play for incentives when he can pocket 31.4M this season and still sell his services next season?

The cap pretty much took care of any meaningful incentives.

Prescott is playing for incentive, another guaranteed contract either in DAL or elsewhere.
