But this team is going to be throwing. A lot. And he's a positive as a receiver at the position.

I'll be surprised to see a lot of difference in run/pass ratio, but any time you have a new head coach, it's hard to say if the new guy will be as dog-determined to run the ball with Zeke as the previous one was.

Jarwin being anointed the #1 TE made more sense to me before the draft than it does now, having what everyone believes to be an insane slot/#3 WR option. I'm not nearly as concerned about giving the QB places to throw the ball now, and more concerned with giving Zeke another earthmover to plow lanes.

They're going to be running a ton of 11 personnel. Not sure why drafting Lamb would change your opinion when they'll both be on the field at the same time. Can never have enough weapons.

This team needs a more dynamic receiver at TE than a plodder at TE than can block.

(And somewhat obviously, if they're running a FB or a run-first TE onto the field, then that makes it a whole lot more plausible to have Jarwin also on the field.)

For me, it's TE.

First, because while Jarwin's receiving has been everything anyone could have hoped to see develop back-when (iirc) he was given the largest signing bonus in his class of undrafted free agents. But that, on its own, doesn't qualify a player to be a starting TE. It's admittedly a very anecdotal measure, but the fact that I've never watched a Cowboys game these last two years that he's been getting playing time, and heard him praised for a single block, but otoh, have heard him called out for missing a block... that makes me nervous.

Of course, there's a legit argument that if Jay Novacek could get it done, Jarwin is an inch taller and a few pounds heavier, it's legit to think Jarwin can, too.

Second, I can't say I know much about Bell, but what I've read leads me to think, as well as the fact that both Jacksonville and KC considered him not worth bringing back, he's not a #2 who could threaten to push for #1, but rather a #2 who could threaten to push for #3. Schultz, of course, has moved no needle yet, and his roster spot could be under serious assault once training camp cuts are made.

In sum, my perception is that Jarwin has been occupying his rightful role this last year or two, and still should be doing the same for 2020. He's that extra receiving situational TE you bring in, not the one you want as your primary, every-down TE. Bell is okay, as long as you have someone else on the depth chart who is, at least, his equal. We don't. So, I'm one of those who will be especially interested to see how our undrafted free agents out of Michigan and Portland State perform in preseason, and will be watching in the meantime to see if some new opportunity springs up from cuts off the Bears or Bucs rosters.
LB Depth

Punter if Jones isnt healthy. He was terrible down the stretch.

DE spot opposite DLaw.
until Gregory and Smith are reinstated.
I think Anae was a steal and will...by seasons end...have this spot.
but I don't like counting on that swamp-hagg,empy-suited commish...america's self appointed top cop...to do us favors.
I'd like to see a vet added.

I'm still watching players like Jackson and the 'rook - types' ...and keeping the faith.

My biggest concern is keeping the Cowboys' starting left offensive tackle active throughout the season. I've got some C4 and detchord ready for the gremlin if he even dares to show his ugly head...

Valid point. Gregory has been out of the game for a long time. Smith has been out of the game for a long, long, long, long time.

But Crawford is a credible starter who every now and then makes a significant play--more typically a tackle for loss than a sack, but a significant play nonetheless. I'm content we can get by with him for some number of games anyhow.

Plus we have Dorance Armstrong and Bradlee Anae, there are five candidates to fill that spot. I'm not sold on any single one but with that many cards to play someone will work out.

Erving started 8 games last year and has been signed to be the BACKUP swing tackle. This is a great signing providing depth, but also starting experience, something that Knight and Hyatt lack.

Posters need to understand that there will always be areas of weakness on every team. You can't have a steak on every plate.

But he was horrible when starting. He was worse while starting than Knight was coming off the bench. Chiefs were 4-4 when Cam started, 8-0 when he was out.

Is it solely because of him? Not even close. Was he a big reason? Yes sir.

Signing bad players to contracts they aren't worth is not a good signing.

Swing didnt have to be a weakness, we could easily address it like had mentioned.

There a lot of veterans in FA still available like Marshall Newhouse. The price on those guys is dropping and will continue to do so, IMO it highly likely we sign one of those guys prior to training camp.
