The draft is a crapshoot for QBs--even with high picks.

The draft is a crapshoot for every skill position...

But, I feel we are far better off investing that $42 mil a year in multiple positions than one average QB.
With the offense being built here, I would take Blake Bortles right now over paying Dak $42mil a year.
I would most definitely play Dalton over him at that price.

The right play calling, the right scheme, the right players, we can do more with that money.

But you guys tell me all the time Dak needs a great defense too. Dak needs everything and he also needs to be highly paid.

We do have a team that is built to be flashy offensively. Defense? Who knows.
He doesn't need a great defense. Just a defense that can get stops when it counts.

And preferably can get the ball occasionally.

Shouldn't be as hard as it has been for the Cowboys.

...and that invalidates any further of your opinion for me.

& stop calling him average unless you can debunk the stats that easily demonstrate he is an above average QB.

You can say whatever you want. Won't make it true though. LOL......

What about my statement was not true? Tony Romo was one of the league's highest paid players leading up to the 2016 season. That is a fact.

Are we admitting that Dallas roster wasn't as good as we are pretending it was in 2016 and beyond?

You are the one that stated that the Cowboys drafted well and had manageable contracts for younger players.

Are you contending the Cowboys don't have to continue drafting well and managing the cap?

What exactly are you saying isn't true?

Depends on who you talk to. What part of it was true? It depends on what part of the statement you are on but one things for sure, coming in here and declaring an absolute is not gonna fly. You can try it if you want but in the end, it will spiral down the drainpipe.

His so-called wonder stats are because we play 4 games every season vs the DOGS of the East La Giants and Da Commanders.:omg:
Add to his stats the Prevent Defense GARBAGE time stats when all is lost for us and ditto....Dak is a stud stat QB.

Yet, Garoppolo somehow got to the big game after they paid him. It's almost like the team crippling theory is fantasy.

And if you bothered looking at his contract, you would see that Jimmy hit SF's cap for 20 million last year.

Boom. There goes your rebuttal up in smoke.

OK, and? They can make Daks cap hit whatever they want this year. His contract is literally not stopping the front office from doing anything.

So Jimmy's cap hit went up to $27 this year. Are they a substantially worse team than last year? Nope, they neglected to sign an aging Emanuel Sanders and did not lose anyone else of significance.

Romo's salary in 2015 was 1 million dollars. I'm thinking you're incorrect on that one.

They did if you paid attention. They traded one of their starting DLiners. Buckner, and he was a huge part of their super bowl year.

They traded him for a #1 pick and got a top DT prospect to replace him. It's called good team building.

But I guess they should have kept him, released Jimmy, and signed Blake Bottles instead.

First of all SF is designed to be a defense first team. They have a good OL but don't have anywhere near the skill positions players particullary at rb and wr. 27 million for a successful veteran Qb is a bargain relative to the cap.

Dallas is the opposite. We load up on offense and spend whatever is left over on the defense. It hasn't worked. So the solution is to spend 20x more on the Qb and re-sign a WR for 100 million? This franchise is lost and without direction..........and it shows year after year.

Imo, it's been bad drafting and coaching hurting our defense, not the 60/40 positional spending which does favor the offense, but not grossly.
