Dalton has the skills to put up similar numbers that Dak did in 2019, if given the opportunity.

He’s never played with this much talent, and he is a much better natural thrower.

I come across as a Dak hater, sure. I don’t believe he’s a franchise QB worthy of top-end money; sue me. But those who universally defend him are just as bad.

Dalton could do the job for a year or two. Can he take the Cowboys to the Super Bowl? Who the heck knows. But I honestly don’t think Dak can do it, either, which plays a part in me not wanting to pay him crazy amounts of money.

Some of you Dak defenders would have probably given Quincy Carter a massive extension back in the day before he got himself cut.

Opinions are always debatable. It's facts that cannot be debated.

It's a fact that, over the past four years combined, Dak is a top ten in Passer rating, completion percentage, total yards, INT percentage and yes, average yards per attempt.

It's also a fact that, over that same exact time period, Dalton has lagged behind Dak in every single one of those categories.....as in WwwAaaYyyyy back!,........and, yes, that includes average yards per attempt. Keep in mind, this period began with Dak as a rookie starting every game. In fact, he started evey game in his first four seasons. During this same time, Dalton was in his prime, his 6thth season to his 9th.

Don't count on Dalton's poise under pressure. In the fourth quarter last season his passer rating was 76.6 to Dak's 90.7. In most cases Dak was in close games still under a lot of pressure while Dalton was mostly filling in garbage time. Dalton's escapability isn't going to impress anybody either, he was at the high end of sacks in the 4th quarter, Dak on the low end.

I also wouldn't expect Dalton to showcase any double threat skills with an average run of 3.0 yards.

Good post, man. I’m in the #dontpaydak crowd, but you did hit the nail on the head

Just so we are clear.

My issue now is I am waiting for the new ticket prices for our 4 reserved seats at ATT.

When the new signings hit the ledgers, my ticket prices are going to increase.

Believe me...I am not that excited about that.

Somebody pays for all these fun and games.

If not this year, then next year.

It's understood to all ticket holders.

If there are games with no fans, ticket refunds are going to hurt teams for sure.

So snip all you want, I have cold hard Cash reasons to not be excited about Dak and his contract.
So its personal.

compare their stats, tape, eyeball test....you can’t be serious. Daltons arm is largely shot at this point and it would be foolish to rely on him for anything besides spot or backup duty at this point in his career...which is a big part of why we were able to sign him as a backup and no one else wanted him as a starter.
Or Maybe Daltons betting on himself.
Saw the landscape of the league.
Recognized that a poser was trying to reset the cap.
I have no reason to believe that Dalton is unintelligent.
Truly believe that Dalton gave Jerry a discount because at this stage in his career, it was a wide open door to possibly start again, better than nearly any other team in the league.
NE should have signed him, I was surprised they didn't.
One thing is for sure, Dak has more pressure to live up to his high demands now, more than Romo ever had to deal with.
At this point I don't really care one way or the other, but I do appreciate this franchise, for once, bumping a predetermined elevated ego a bit at QB position for once in a very long time.
I don't think Aikman was ever worried about having a solid BU.

I like Dak. I really do. And I have seen him improve every year. But I shudder to think of the dumpster fire that would be Dak on the Bengals with that offensive line.

Dak, literally, lucked into a Superbowl ready team in 2016 with a superior Offensive Line. Dalton has never had anything like the talent that is on our roster. Those of you spouting stats are missing the fact that the Bengals had one of the worst offensive lines in passer protection. I, for one, would REALLY like to see what Dalton could do with this offense.

He looks like he is working his rear off and looks fabulous! This really ought to bring out the best in my favorite player Dak Prescott! Watch around the 2:30 minute mark if you get bored easily.. His kids are really cute as they throw him footballs in between his reps..

He's calling out Dak.

It's great how you and American Cowboy liked each others post.

It's like two dogs sniffing each others butt.
It's better than licking your own junk.

Now turn off your parent's computer, get some sleep and make sure to go look for a job now that the economy is opening up.

He does more leg exercises than Dez used to do.

Dalton had nothing? During his first five seasons? five consecutive winning seasons? Five consecutive Playoff berths?

I seem to remember a seven time Pro Bowler at WR. He had an All Pro LT. Two or three others on the line played together for 4-5 seasons. He had thousand yard rushers in Benson and Green-Ellis for a couple seasons and when they got Bernard he formed a very effective duo with Green Ellis During Dalton's first five seasons they had a defense that was consistently ranked in the single digits.

Everybody remembers last season, perhaps the one before. They don't remember that this was a good team that just seemed to choke in the playoffs......five times in a row. Let's take a look at that.

They were good enough to give Dalton five shots in the playoffs, although he couldn't play in one of them. The other four? A combined 55.7 rating with 1 TD and 6 INT to go along with his four fumbles. They lost all four games and it wasn't because they didn't have a good enough team.

These were Dalton"s good years.....four years ago.

And this is the guy that's supposed to make Dak's agent nervous? Negotiations probably stalled further as the salary demand increased.

What can Dalton do with this team?.......apparently, he can lift weights and steal three million dollars.

It’s always good to have options. Hell sign Cam. Let the best man win. Big Mac can sort it out.

Quite possibly....also he is from the area.
I’m glad we have him as a backup plan but I hope we don’t have to rely on him. Dak is superior player and we don’t really sign big money free agents we don’t already have on our team anyway so the outrage about breaking the cap...I’m not worried about that. We keep who we want regardless, there’s always a way and we almost never go out and sign a big name anyway, we shop in the bargain bin.

You think Dalton is gonna start for you and only be paid 3 million a year? Ha!

First off I love Dak he is my favorite player on the team but I cant control whats in his head or make him sign and play for what he believes is unfair

Second I love the Cowboys more than Dak and if he wont play for whatever reason Andy will start and play for 3 million + the incentives that could take his pay to a max of 7 mil .

Improving the team is what I care about most and Andy Dalton along with 30 mil to spend on Defense makes us a better team than if we pay Dak 36 mil So we bought a great Insurance policy that makes us even better this year in the event dak and the team cant come to terms .

Its really that simple Andy will honor his Contract and start for 3mil if necessary
