which makes it perfect for the player. I don't understand your statement? Would you like to go back tot he days when players sold insurance in the offseason?

How do you think the owners handle contract negotiations when it is to their benefit?

This goes back to Stephen Jones' quote. With the cap rules, no matter how much a player makes, the owners win. Their player cost is fixed by the CBA. One player making more just means others make less and as a result, it pits players against each other and against the fanbase.

The only skin that the owners have in the game is winning. The more they pay an individual, the worse the team is.

Dang, he represents some big names in the NFL

Is that number career earnings up to 9/2019?
44mil a year seems really high.

That’s nothing compared to what agents in Europe are making from the footballers they represent.
When Manchester Utd bought Paul Pogba from Juventus, the agent made over €40 million from just that deal.

This is CAA.

Same agency that handles Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lawrence, Matthew McConaughey, George Clooney, Beyonce, Tom Hanks, JJ Abrams, Jeff Bridges, Jessica Chastain, Seth McFarlane, Jennifer Aniston, and a thousand others.

They don't negotiate.
What are you talking about? They don't negotiate? That's their job.

My brother used to be repped by CAA. They have good agents and bad agents. Many times the agent's attitudes and actions are a reflection of their clients' attributes. Many times the agents don't act in the best interest of their clients. Some are such a wall in between client and reality that the client misses out of great opportunities and projects because the agent never passed on the script or the idea. Just like with any big company, there are good and bad workers at CAA.

Dak deserves the best representation, but he also has a choice of reps. Just like all of the above that you've mentioned.

Todd is da man!!!
With Prescott, he has found himself in a world of aggravation and discomfort and will register a loss with this client.

I do not blame a player or his agent for asking for the most they can get. I blame the GM and front office for allowing that crap to happen. Overpaying players is just not worth it.

How hard is it to just keep telling Jerry no until he caves because this is the year and he doesnt want to disrupt that?

You are misunderstanding. I meant how the owners handle contracts when it directly effects their income.

I really hope people do not think Jerry Jones has lawyers working for him that are pushovers?

True... but it doesn't help a team at all due to the salary cap in place. Star players holding out to get a much bigger piece of the pie only hurts the team from being able to keep a playoff competitive team in place. Simple economics.

Dak Prescott is not in charge of talent acquisition. When he signed a 4th round contract he got paid 4th round money.

He now has an opportunity to make money more in line with his worth. That is how it goes. Not a single player on any team should be taking deals unless it is some really rare circumstance that benefit the team more than the player.

Like every other player before him and after him, when Dak's time is up his ability to make money on this level will be over.

Again I am not a big fan of the guy and feel he is not worth the money he is going to be paid but I think he 100% deserves to paid as much as he can get because that is the system and this is his chance to get paid. You never know what will happen tomorrow so you have to get every penny you can.

Talent acquisition and team building is for the front office and the coaches.

(In bold ^^^): You left out "contract decisions and how they affect the team" when it comes to the front office, hence why Jerry and Stephen are playing hardball with Dak. You won't find a bigger Dak fan around here than me, but giving in for the latest offer is not going to hurt Dak AT ALL. Plus, if he continues playing well as expected, he will be able to ask for a 2nd big contract 4 years from now while he will still be in his prime (age of 30). You've got to give a little in order to win big now and keep on winning big in the near future.

Well I disagree. Players get hurt all the time and then the organization dumps them like yesterdays garbage ( See Ware and Romo)

The team should plan for paying a qb the market rate and build accordingly.

Besides giving stephen a few million more means nothing I have zero faith he would turn it into a productive piece that helps them win.

Bull****. It’s ignorant to put all the blame on Dak.

No it's not. Last I knew, the agent worked for the player, not the other way around. The agent can say, we should do this or we should do that, you're worth this, trust me. But if the player says, take the deal the agent has no choice but to either quit or take the deal. I am not blaming Dak to get what he can, he should, I would. But at the end of the day, it is his decision, not the agent's and by default, he is to "blame".

Those are handles for negotiations!

Remember Warren McVea, San Antonio Highlands? He came down with his probation officers to Kingsville. He scored 28 points, and game film of the game circulated colleges reviewing him to offer a scholarship from. Oh, and the Kingsville Brahmas beat them, 3A at that time.

Bitsy Garcia was at Alice afterwards, and took the Coyotes to the State playoffs, 4A. Bitsy ended up at the University of Houston as well...I was a linebacker and remember hitting him in the open with a running start. I was a sophomore...hit him in the chest, slowly slid down, and he continued on for a TD. :)
