Insulting me with Boomer condescension isn't going to work with me here, bro.

Your generation's hyper-sensitivity is your own cross to bear.

That was click bait from the start.

K. So is this. It keeps hammering at something that has little chance of happening.

We actually did attempt to trade for Jamal last season, and the Cowboys found out that their asking price was too high, which was confirmed by multiple sources. That whole ordeal went all the way to the trade deadline. Are you too old to remember that?

The "trade" last season for Adams was not supported by much concrete.

Could we have sniffed around? Sure. Could some have reported that sniffing as legitimate? Sure.

That still does not mean a lot. In fact, even if we probed and found the price too high, is there a reason to think it will come down now? Based on what?

It is like everything else, a slurry of rumors swirling around the internet. Stuff that you fell for. And apparently won't let go.

The facts are clear. Adams is now under contract for not one, but two years.

It is not going to happen for 2020, at least.

So it is stupid to discuss. At the end of the day, it has no more real legs than the Earl Thomas dream.

I am a Dak fan, no hate towards him BUT for me... I'd rather have a big play safety QB leading the Defense rather than pay Dak the kind of money he is looking for...just my opinion.

Here's the deal- if the Jets are trading Adams because he's going to require a renegotiation and an extension in the immediate future, then his cost in players or picks will go down greatly.

We have to look at the different possibilities:

1. Adams and Jets cannot agree on an extension, but Adams will not hold out and will play on his current contract.

Under this scenario, whoever trades for Adams can go ahead and sign him to an extension if they want or have Adams for 2020 and 2021 at reasonable rates of 3.5 mil this year and 9.8 for next. (Approx values).

Under this possibility, the Jets are likely only entertaining offers because they know they can get more now as a team trading for Adams has two reasonable cost years and two years to work that extension. A deal under this possibility happens either because a team over pays in young players or draft capital or because the Jets would want to get something now for him.

It's this scenario where Dallas likely has to pay a first round pick plus some to get him.

2. Adams and Jets cannot agree on an extension and Adams will likely hold out or refuse to play on his current deal.

Under this scenario, the Jets are being backed into a corner. Adams wants to get paid and he wants to get paid now. If this is the case, the value on the two current years left doesn't matter. Whoever trades for his is going to have to pay sooner rather than later, so the value the Jets get will be exponentially less than in possibility 1.

This possibility backs the Jets into a wall. Get something for Adams or have no Adams. Of course, there's a game of chicken here. Maybe Adams will come back and finish out the deal and the Jets can trade him later or at least get the value of his services for the last two years. But there's more risk involved.

Either possibility could be ok for the Cowboys. I would have no problem giving up next year's first for Adams on his current contract. The Cowboys will get two years out of him before having to pay up. Hopefully in one of those, he leads us to a Super Bowl.

Under the second possibility, the Cowboys would have to make the cap space for the extension, but would give up less in draft capital...and maybe could even get Adams for a 3rd and a 5th. I would do that deal as well.

That was my first reaction when I saw the thread title. We got Robert Quinn for a #6 because we took on salary, we could definitely get the price down on Adams the same way.

The other thing to think about is we will have comp picks that we could trade in the 3rd, 4th and 5th. Giving up our regular 3 and 5 isn't that big of a loss when those comp picks will only be a few picks later.

This is starting up again because Adams and the Jets can't agree to a contract extension.

So if they can't get it done, how do you think he will be about negotiating here.
But click bait, bring up the Cowboys.

Move on from this, we do not need this.
It’s not Fish. It’s Gary Myers. He’s got real connections in both organizations. He’s not saying it a a done deal but that the Thera a problem in NY and Dallas is interested.

I’m interested

A player with 3 career picks, no thanks. Does not sound elite to me.
Isn't this is why people did not want Byron back too.
Exactly. The one thing the Cowboy's secondary cannot do is intercept the ball, so why would you want to trade a premium pick for Adams and then sign him to a mega contract when he cannot intercept the ball?

Half the league has called the jets about adams. Cowboys draw more clicks than anyone else and its not even close.

I think Gallup has WR1 potential, but we won't re-sign him.
I would say its rather premature to speculate that at this point.
Gallup has done everything you would want.. elevated his game every year.
We have time, so its a good thing, lets just wait and see, and it would be great to retain all 3.
Rhymed it.

Jamal Adams facts:

Adams had more sacks than Demarcus Lawrence last year.

Adams had more interceptions than Byron Jones last year.

Adams had more passes defended than Byron Jones last year.

Adams had more tackles for loss than Jaylon Smith last year.

Adams had more than twice as many QB hits as Jaylon Smith, Sean Lee, Xavier Woods and Jeff Heath combined last year.

Adams did all this while missing 2 games last year.

Adams is 24 years old, the consensus best player at his position, a DPOY candidate and a Dallas native that wants to play for this team.

Adams is absolutely worth a 1st round pick and $15 million a year.
Did he or did he not single handedly beat us last year. He was all over the field

Re-structure Martin and we’ve got space for Jamaal Adams. I also think we’ll redo Crawford’s contract freeing up 2-3m or so. So the money aspect is do-able.

It’s more the idea of giving up a lot of draft capital for a non-premium position. I think Jets will want more than a 1st and that’s probably not a good deal for us. Looking at Cooper, we got a steal in theory, but it didn’t win us a Super Bowl and we’re now on the hook for 20m a season. If we had Gallup, Lamb and say Beasley...that’s probably enough resources at WR and we’d have 20m (less Beasley money) and a 1st round player in his second year.

I’ve wanted him all along so I’m for it. I’d do a 1st & Lewis or C Williams and be very very happy with this entire off season.

look how he destroys the Giants on this play. Man I want him to be a Cowboy.

Oh boy another sportswriter is doing some more speculation and there are fans here just eating it up. When there is an announcement by the Cowboys or Adams's agent that something has been worked out, then and only then can you believe it, until then it's just guessing and speculation.

Oh nice, so that way we can get into another pissing match after the season is over similar to what we're going through this year.

I really wish some of these stories would just die already.

the Jets drafted him with a top 10 pick, they are not letting him go even now without atleast a 2nd rd pick but i think even that wont get it done.

It’s not Chris Simms. It’s Gary Myers. He has connections with both organizations
