and about dak and contract this has no effect on that since it is set based on tv money which is guaranteed.
But the cap may stay the same for awhile and not go up like it was forecast to do.
The nfl needs to play the games , fans attending or not, or they probably lose the tv money for this year. That is alot of money.
If that happened no games, I am wondering if players would then not get paid and would they be able to file for unemployment?? lol

Also I wonder did these guys making millions per year get the 1200 dollar stimulus checks too? Did jerry get his check? boy
bet they are glad they got that!.
if jerry didnt get his he would be on the phone asking where is my check !!

well they are paid to play, if they dont play I imagine no pay.
they can then file for unemployment and drain the coffers.
Tsk tsk.. players got lawyers too and Billionaires aren't dumb enough to leave it the hands of US Congress.
Players won't take less and giv marker value performance.
Do you know guys who played this tough game like Randy White can't look up...this sport is brutal.. they won't play for less.

Based on everything I am reading, the cap is set as a percentage of average league wide revenue. TV money is a big part of that but people are still projecting that if this goes bad and fans can't go to games, the cap will come down by 10's of millions of dollars.

Just read that according to Forbes, in 2018 Dallas pulled in 950 million dollars in revenue.

621 million of this revenue or 65.4% was for 10 home games. This was tickets, parking, concessions, sponsors, and team merchandise.

The 621 million was nearly double of the next team New England. If there are no fans for games this year Dallas will stand to lose an enormous amount of revenue.

This is my speculation, but this maybe a reason why the Prescott negotiations have not been completed. Maybe Dallas will let Prescott play on the tag because that's a known expenditure. Dallas is unsure of future revenue so they are holding off till the future becomes clearer before committing to such a large amount of guaranteed monies.
Every team has to be aware of this.

Us especially.

It sort of water downs the crap we always here about no state income tax being one of our advantages to sign Dak.

No income, no reduction no team paycheck.

It's a conundrumm.

One billionaire who is killing it and not hurting during this pandemic is the CEO of Amazon, saw he has made $434 billion so far and counting.

Hard to believe the Cowboys make that much money from 10 home games, I believe the majority of the money comes from the Tv deals.

Of course they are the most valuable but if you think having star players burst on the scene doesn't increase revenue then you're tripping.

You are way over-emphasizing his financial impact. He is the proverbial drop in the Cowboys bucket.

..this year, all teams will lost $$$$. Worse still, depending where Covid is a hotspot.

No. Cowboys will not lose money.

They will just not make as much.

They have corporate sponsors and advertising partners that pay no matter what.
Plus many more waiting to sign on.

Even though they placed the tag on Prescott, the Cowboys remain fixated on getting a deal done with him as soon as possible. In the event that the salary cap suffers a hiccup next offseason, signing Prescott could become a little more difficult.

Besides the Cowboys, there are going to be certain teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, who may have to wait to sign their franchise quarterback. It will be interesting to see how teams react to the news of a possible decline in the salary
if cap goes down in 21 then daks deal becomes more expensive and a higher %

Jerry will just have to take his Yacht out a couple times less next year. Problem solved....
He might just sell watch parties from his yatch. He could probably get a good chunk of change back!

Takes about 3/4 million in gas to fill up a mega-yacht like that plus pay the crew, buy the food, pay the docking fees, etc. Jerruh has the money though. Would be like us buying a tank of gas for our trucks and some Chic-Fil-A, to him. LOL

The salary cap is the salary cap. It's a perfectly known expenditure. This has absolutely nothing to do with the Dak negotiations.

I'm thinking about starting a new thread on this. Either I am completely off base or this is a big deal that a lot of people here don't understand.

The salary cap for 2020 is fixed at around $200m. If the NFL can't have fans in the stadiums, its revenue will fall. Since the cap is a percentage of revenue, it will fall also. Its also an aggregate of all teams. If Dallas has fans but LA or NYC doesn't, Dallas' cap will go down.

Some estimates have worst case scenarios of a $80m reduction for 2021. That would leave the salary cap at $120m. Teams would have to be cutting players left and right to get down to that number. Since Dak wants a lot of money, his presence on the payroll next year would directly impact that. If it really goes down, then no team could sign him to a big offer next year. Of course this impacts the Dak negotiations.

The NBA has already publicly talked about a huge hit to its cap. They have a better relationship with their union and have been talking about how to implement it in a way that minimizes the damage to the players. The NFL doesn't have that good of a relationship with the NFLPA and something like a pure cut could happen.

There is revenue that is shared and there is revenue that is not shared.

Dallas will lose more revenue than any other team. They are nearly doubling New England in 2nd place. It's not even close.

Jerry is a billionaire and it won't effect him, but he is also a businessman, and he will do everything to minimize cost.

Most businessmen would stand pat if they are unsure of future profits. This will make them hesitate on expenditures that can wait till the future becomes clearer.

I'm just speculating that Jerry may decide to let Prescott play under the tag this year and see where the chips land for next year. He is an oilman and has a risk streak.

If the fans get sick of showing up Jerry will pay for the way he's treated them over the past 13 years.

and if a comet hits earth, we will go the way of the Dinosaurs, and if my aunt had a pair, shed be my uncle.

Cowboys fans are chomping at the bit for the season to get going. Dont think for a second that the 1k or so fans that will want to take some imaginary stand to boycott jerry will make one dent into his revenue.
