But if this was prime Aikman/Romo, you'd say pay them.

Not really, I just think the kind of money hurts the team in general. Now Manning/Rodgers/Brady/Brees in their prime, I might be ok with because they were without a doubt stars. Dak/Romo and even Aikman weren't that level. (I thought we overpaid Romo and I liked him as a player as well). Aikman was nearly top 3 paid at that time, he was also on one of the best teams ever assembled.

Strong Safety hasn't been an issue. Jeff Heath was fine. Not the difference between winning and losing for the most part.

It's just a position that doesn't really matter.

I mean, it does matter. No way to tell if it would have been the difference between winning & losing some of these games, but the run / screen defense was absolutely abysmal is some games (Colts & Titans come to mind) & he could have defiantly helped.

I don't think we should wash our hands of upgrading the position, but I agree that the price tag + trade collateral is not worth it in this case. There are less expense options available.

NO. Unless the asking price comes down. We have cheaper, HUNGRY guys on the roster that need a fair chance. Donovan Wilson comes to mind. Lets see what he can do before trading away picks. The caveat is, IF the price comes down. If that happens, I am on board with a trade.

Jets don't seem to be benefiting from a results standpoint either.

He's a nice player.

He would make us a better team.

I would just rather spend the money on guys that stop the passer or rush the passer.

He's a luxury. Like paying a RB.

Adams would be a modern Day Darren Woodson. He loves to hit, but in todays game, those hits now are risky and could be a liability.

They were #2 in run defense.

Yeah I really don't care about stopping the run. That should be easy for any NFL team to do if they choose to take it away.

NFL defenses need to be great at stopping big plays and creating turnovers.

Every time a team runs the ball it's a win for the defense because runs shouldn't equate to explosive plays.

If I play Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, or any elite QB then I am happy anytime they hand the ball off to a RB.

If we pay a 1st and a 3rd for Jamal Adams AND pay him, that means that this organization learned nothing over the years.

If Jamal Adams was coming out this coming year he would go third overall. Right behind Lawrence and that other QB. Our first and 3rd would never trade you up to 3rd overall next year.

look how he destroys the Giants on this play. Man I want him to be a Cowboy.

Dallas Trades

DE/DT Tyrone Crawford
FS Xavier Woods
2021 2nd round draft pick

NY Jets Trade

S Jamal Adams
2020 5th Round Draft Pick CB Bryce Hall

Dallas gets the leader at Safety that it needs plus a young CB prospect plus they free up $10M in 2020 cap room by including Crawford & Woods. The Jets get a needed draft pick plus help on the d-line and safety.

The $10M Dallas saves on Crawford & Woods can be used to get Adams signed to a long-term extension which, according to the market value, would be around a 6-year $90 Million deal with around $48 Million guaranteed making him the leagues highest paid Safety.

Dallas then has a starting safety group of FS Clinton Dix (he has played 2/3rds of his career snaps at FS) and SS Adams. At CB Dallas adds another youngster in Hall to go along with draft picks Diggs and Robinson given that BOTH Awuzie and Lewis are entering the last year of their contracts.

Although I believe we were interested last year, I don't think we are this year based on the scheme we want to use. If the idea is to play a lot of press man and then have the safeties play back, Adams isn't an ideal fit for the scheme. We need cover safeties.

Now, I know we're going to be multiple, so there will be times when the safeties will come up into the box, but I don't think that's going to be our primary setup.

If you were at #3 overall you wouldn’t have to pay the player anywhere near what Adams will be asking for. So that analysis is of limited value.

True but that is what makes this a fair trade for both ends.

I'd love to get Adams, but I think at this point the Cowboys should be 100% focused on who is on the roster right now. Everyone is playing without a full deck next season thanks to the pandemic. Throwing in more wild cards is just going to further muck the process.

they much like cowboys are at a stalemate in their contract negotiations,

I know I am going to get killed/supported by what I am about to suggest, but its just offseason, and nothing else to do...it may not even be realistic

perhaps, cowboys trade Dak and a 3rd to Jets, for Adams and Darnold…… I don't expect us to be in the superbowl this year, with a new coach, new scheme, etc. it will take time and no first year coach from the outside has ever done it in the past....its just too much to over come......so perhaps McCarthy gets a couple of years with Darnold, jets get a franchise QB and rid of adams contract issues and can negotiate with Dak and regardless they would have to renegotiate with Darnold in a year or two anyway, so just cut the chase.....

Thank god we didn’t trade for Mikah last year. We would of been a playoff team and lost in the 2nd round and resigned garret Garrett.
While I understand that mentality, the trade and all trades should be considered for what they were at that time, with some thought still towards the potential result.

No one knew at the time that we would be able to land a player the caliber of Cee Dee Lamb with the 17th pick. Mots of us didn't think tat was possible the day of the actual draft, let alone last season. If we can guarantee those results, no one would ever trade a 1st round pick ever.

Personally, I fully expect this team to be drafting much later than 17th next year, the likelihood of that increases greatly if the team were to add a player like Jamal Adams to the defense.
