Yep. Cut him. We should do everything necessary to tank this year. And next. For that matter...from now on. We picked up our durable, hard-working, intelligent, accurate and forward-minded QB at the END OF THE 4TH ROUND...dang right it's time to move on from him.

How do I know it's time to move on from him? Well, obviously, it's got nothing to do with his overall performance on the field or his ability to survive an entirely incompetent coaching squad. It's got nothing to do with having to replace a very fan favorite QB in Romo (I'm part of that group). It's got nothing to do with his upward trending play on the field or his ability to lead other men. It's got nothing to do with him never even broaching the subject of his pay without being prompted in the 4 years he was paid relative pennies compared to his contemporaries. It's time to move on because I heard some click-seeking talking heads on the internet throw that possibility out. Not only that, I'm part of a discussion group with a vocal minority of posters who want him gone...and want him gone so passionately...that I guess I should want to move on from him to.

I wasn't convinced by the thousands of other comments saying basically the same thing. I wasn't convinced at the dozens of other commentators trying to just attach their name to the Cowboys and Dak because they were seeking likes and shares. It was the creation of this thread. This is the one that did it.

Time to move on.

Daks as good as gone. Jerry ain't paying him! Thats exactly why Rush was let go and Dalton was brought in after already giving Rush a 3 mil deal. Jerry and Stephen were hoping Dak would come to his senses but nope. Jerrys face during the Eagles loss last year was all I needed to see. No offensive fire power when you need it. All those fireworks against the Commanders and Giants and not a sparkler against the Eagles.

I have actually changed my thoughts and opinions on him to neutral.

I just want to know when you decide that a players greed to get to what? $50 nil per year are too much and you simply make your $35 mil $100 mil guaranteed offer ... if he declines... you move on from him?

I'm not sure why there are some that suggest there's greed involved. The front office dropped the ball. They got a rookie 4th rounder who converted to a day one starter for less than a million a year. For four years! Anyone who has a brain and doesn't have an agenda can see that. They should have extended him earlier like they did Elliott. If I'm Prescott, I'm getting all I can because nothing is guaranteed.

Ya Dalton signing was a clear message that the FO is not going to pay Dak franchise QB money.
Dalton signs for kicker money and no promises to him were made to him???
Big Mike calls him asap once he's cut by the Bengals and take 2 weeks to call Dak......HELLOOOOOO is anyone out there in Dak-land????
Time to panic Dak-Zoids the future is upon us.....

If this is in relation to your obsession, yes.
Otherwise, no.
Nothing more lame than the sad fans fetishizing their hate for Dak, who spend their lives now looking for YouTube videos and articles where they think they'll find more idiots backing them up.

They're getting a little hot under the hood.

That's what I want to know. What's the four year plan at QB if we move on from Dak? Because Dalton doesn't have four years left in him, IMO.

Dalton has only been in the league 9 years, I believe. I think he's probably got 4 years left but, that's here nor there. I don't believe he is the long term answer either but for the sake of discussion, the answer is trade Dak. Take the resources we acquire from that and position ourselves for a QB in the 21 draft. Two firsts, in hand and a future 1st would probably get a trade up done. Trevor could be the best QB prospect to come out since Luke. NFL personnel evaluators believe he is better then any QB that came out this past draft and that 2020 draft is considered the best draft for QBs since the 83 draft.

Just my opnion but, I see the landscape of the QB changing over the next few years. I know that popular opinion is probably leaning towards continued escalation but I don't see that. Salaries have gone up steadily over the years, that's certainly true but, the percentage of cap invested in the QB position is unsustainable IMO. I believe that a correction will happen. I'm just not sure when that will be. JMO

signing Dalton gave the front office an option should dak hold out. but it does not, in any way close the door on the ongoing negotiations. chance favors the prepared mind. nothing more, nothing less.

Dalton is best suited as a back up at this point in his career. He had a couple year stretch where he played at a higher level, but after watching him last season the writing is on the wall. Not a knock on Dalton, but expecting him to take all the snaps all season long "in case Prescott doesn't play" is not a logical plan. I do think if Dalton came in to cover Prescott if he's injured would be a great back up plan.
Seriously, if you have high expectations of Dalton, you didn't watch him play.

Time to move on. He had a good 4-year run in Dallas but now wants to be paid even more than a championship-winning quarterback (Mahomes,) despite having won only one playoff game. He wants to be paid nearly 4 times more than Romo ever was. He wants to be paid more than Brees or Brady.

Sorry, but that's not reasonable. That's like a reliable, hardworking accountant in your company demanding to be paid $450,000 a year. Ain't right.

Let's see what Dalton can do for a year or two while we draft Dalton's replacement.

it would appear it is all about 4 years vs 5 years. both sides positions are easily understandable. it will get settled.

Sign him for 4 years, or franchise him. Either way he has to play well. I don't get insisting on a 5th year. Worry about dak's next contract when he plays well enough through this one.

Side Note - if your Jerry. You can justify giving dak a huge contract if we had won or went to a SB the past 4 years... but jerry decided to waste that opportunity with Jason Garret at the helm. So this is partially his fault.
