What? Mahomes is on a rookie deal...he hasn't signed an extension...when Mahomes signs his extension I'm willing to bet it will be 5m+ more per season than Daks ends up being.
QB contracts continually go up. The QBs you mention are old farts now so yeah none of them are getting mega extensions. If Brees was 30 years old you better believe he'd be the top paid QB when his extension came time to be done. Let's see where Watson, Mahomes, etc, etc who are due for extensions soon end up relative to Dak. Comparing a contract TODAY with one from 5-10 years ago is stupid unless you want to compare it to a percentage of the cap. I don't know what the percentage would be of total cap that Dak's deal ends up being but I'd bet it's relatively close to the last mega extension Brees signed comparative to the cap percentage. Is Dak a Drew Brees? No but he's next man up and is a top 10 QB.

It is time to move on from trying to get a contract longer then 4 years.

The fact that those tools would even try to look out that far is a joke. None of the other QB's are extending beyond 4 years and they didn't have the worst rollovers in the league do their deals.

Serve these aholes right to move on to Dalton and watch them try to get another QB. Rather be lucky than good was coined for the Joneses and their attempts to get a QB. The bumbling fools could have had Lynch or Cook.

The deal will eventually be made for 4 years. It boggles the mind how many continue to denigrate the Jones's for trying to get the best deal possible for the team. The purview of the 401k and a checking account, no doubt.

And of course that can be achieved by removing the quarterback whose first four years ranks him #2 in passer rating all time for QB's with 1500+ attempts in their first four seasonss since 1970. He's also ranked #1 in completion percentage, #3 in yards, #3 lowest INT's, #4 yards per attempt, #2 rushing TD's, and #5 in combined 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives.

And just at the right time, as he's beginning the prime of his career with one of the best WR trios in the past two decades and a newly hired HC with a SB resume.

As for getting to the Super Bowl, for all QB's playoff performance since 1970 in their first four seasons, Dak is #3 in passer rating, #1 in completion percentage. That's right, Dak is the most accurate playoff passer in his first four seasons in NFL history......but I suppose that isn't really important when you want to get to the Super Bowl.

Hopefully you understand how QB's are paid better now because of the explanations in your thread.

Dak is the next one to get paid. It doesn't matter what Brady, Brees or any other QB gets paid. Or what Romo got paid.

Seeing what Dalton can do is a horrible idea. He isn't nearly as good of a QB as Dak is.

Dak either signs.Plays on the tag or sits out for the year.

Honestly its become like the wolf story.
Are you sure bud cause it's looking more and more like a longshot esp after they go ahead and sign a 9-year starter in Dalton?
It's pretty evident they are NOT believers in Dak or this contract would have been done 2 years ago like Goffs and Wentz.
Beating the Giants and Skins for 4 years and having 1 playoff win do not produce 35 million a year contracts.

Yes it is. Roll with Dalton and try again in the draft next year. You'll be better off in the long run than paying a stiff long term to the richest contract in league history.
