Any thoughts on this player?

He had a lot of hype in camp and I think the last staff really liked him but he couldn’t catch the ball in the preseason..

If I remember right he was playing with the first team at times wasn’t he?

The reason I bring him up is because he is someone that might help bring a speed element to the team.

I just don’t remember too much about his Pre- season.

Your right, struggled badly catching the football. Don't forget we also have Devin Smith, he has legitimate deep speed.

He tore up practice, and then evaporated when the lights came on.
Gallup and Cooper are both fast enough when it matters. We’ll have our share of big plays.

Smith is a backup player. He’s intriguing, but he’s going to have his hands full just making the team.

My pet cat last year along with TP. The good thing about JJ is he was open when he was dropping those passes. What if he starts catching everything then does that change the outlook at WR4-6?

Just catch the ball and Jon'Vea will be fine.

Are you saying we don't have a speed element?

Between Cooper and Smith you have your top end speed guys covered. I don't see how you keep a guy that cant be dependable catching the ball.

Barring an injury setback, Smith will be the #4 guy. Will have no problems making the team if he is healthy.

Jon'Vea Johnson's main problem has been dropping the ball.

That'll get you left out of consideration quicker than anything.

He may get more time to prove himself but his days dwindle.

We'd have one of the best WR corps in the NFL without him.

He was great at getting separation, which made every quarterback want to throw his way, but he had mental lapses because he wanted to run before securing the ball. I think it eventually got into his head. Hopefully he can get it out because he was simply hard to cover in practice and in games.

I hope he can become like Miles Austin, who also had some trouble with his hands early in his career.

That 4th, 5th, and possibly 6th WR spot will be interesting. Feel like anyone has a shot with the new staff while often injured and blocking specialist Noah Brown won't be handed a job. Still think he could possibly be a TE if he can stay healthy.

I have absolutely zero hopes he will contribute in any way other than being a camp body.

I feel like there was a lot of hype, but he was outplayed by Jalen Guyton.

Only reason we kept Johnson is because we stashed him on IR. I think the kid has some upside but he was extremely raw last preseason.

if he can figure it out...be kinda cool to have a WR named Johnson round the ranch again.
