I don’t like trading a first for a player who you have to give an immediate fat contract to...although Amari was worth it...
My question if we did trade for him, what do we do with Haha? Clearly the new staff likes him a lot and have history together.
Only reason I’m fine with it is because your legit getting a top 2 player at his position..

a position we have completely whiffed at having talent since Woody called it a career

dude is barley going to enter his prime and can help anchor a young secondary that has no stars.. and honestly looking like we might have two rookies starting on the boundary by mid season

I'm fine with a 1 and a 3, since we've got that comp pick coming.

He’s retweeting Gary Myers

Gary Myers has been covering the NFL since 1978, most recently as a columnist for the New York Daily News.

He joined the Dallas Morning News as the Cowboys' beat writer in 1981, and later became the Morning News' NFL columnist until 1989.

He's the author of the New York Times bestseller "Brady vs. Manning," and "How 'Bout Them Cowboys?" Myers also votes for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Lol. I know who Gary Myers is thank you. Had a twitter exchange with him recently. Fish is a clown who touts his "inside information" to con fans.

Couple thoughts:

1. If Dallas traded for Adams and signed him to a big extension, he immediately becomes the most likely candidate for lead dog on your defense. You could argue D Law, but IMO he is a beta. Adams is most definitely an alpha. Texas kid. All Pro. Born leader. Worth a 1st and 3rd? Debate-able. But you would definitely be getting more than just a talented safety.

2. This would be an “all in” move by Dallas. There are times when you have to take your shot. Are they a SB contender with the coaches they have added? The free agents and draft picks they have acquired? If you believe they are knocking on the door of making serious noise in the playoffs— then pushing all your chips into the pot for a guy like Adams makes sense. He is an elite player that (apparently) is available— doesn’t happen very often, and he would immediately add a lot to a defense that is being remolded.

Our offense looks great with a high ceiling. Our D looks to be improving, but landing Adams would be a huge piece that would go a long way towards solidifying the back end and giving the whole unit a stronger identity.

Yes, we would have a quieter offseason next year in terms of acquiring talent— but there are definitely times to go “all in”— I am good with that bold a move and price considering the coaches we have.

I agree with everything here other than the all in aspect. It's definitely a major move, but I wouldn't call it an all in move. Even if this move was made and it didn't pan out, for whatever reason, this team is definitely young enough to overcome a miss there. The window would still be open. But it's very hard for me to envision that move back firing, adams is a proven commodity.

Definitely a young team, and I agree— even if we “miss”— this deal would not destroy anything in terms of long-term opportunity.

However— it would be “all in” IMO still, because it is not just the draft picks committed— but also the cap dollars.

We would be committing to Adams longterm, which would limit the ability to make other moves— beyond obviously missing out on the two draft picks.

That said— I am fine with the move if they pull the trigger. Adding a proven All Pro to this D gets my blood going. Let’s Go!!!!

Haha would be the free safety. Woods is the guy who'd be out of a (starting) job.

Im not a big woods fan. But I dont think Haha is much better than Woods. I could see either of them starting opposite Adams in this scenario.

To me, it's about Clinton-Dix strengths and weaknesses. He can play free safety, but he's not physical enough to play strong safety. And I think the organization agrees with you and they're not not big Woods fans either. He's a player that has flashed, but never taken that next step, but thinks he's better than he is. Combine that with a contract year and I think the Cowboys are fine with exploring other options. It wouldn't shock me if Donovan Wilson started over Woods this season.

Another answer as to the what's changed questioned you asked me the other day.

Timing.

Ahead of this year's draft, I wouldn't want to give up the picks in 2020 ahead of that season. If we had, we'd have missed out on Lamb and either Diggs or Gallimore for the upcoming season. You trade the 2021 picks now, you're getting a full season with an added weapon before the bill of draft picks comes due.

I was thinking the same thing earlier but surely they are not that dumb.

Just watch this guy.. He is younger than Joe Burrow too.

If they would do a 1 and Dak for Adams and Darnold its a no brainer for Dallas to do.

Darnold has lots of questions. He was seeing Ghosts against the Patriots. The only game he played well was against us. Dak is better then Donald. No question.

Not me. I'll give them the 3rd rounder before an emerging, proven, 1,000 yard receiver.
Let’s be real about Gallup, he solid but he scored 3 of his 6 touchdowns in the final game against the Skins. Nobody talks about his dropped touchdown vs the Eagles. Adams changes our defense for the better. He is a “alpha dog”.

As soon as you "be real" about that 3rd round draft pick. Gallup is a proven hit. He'd likely be a 1st round pick in a redraft. And you'd rather give away proven for unproven in a 2021 3rd round pick?

Uh, no.

Darnold has some good qualities, but he need to get his footwork under control.

Gallup is ok. He will be a 3rd receiver next year. Did you see what happened when he got a chance to be a one against the Jets? Yuck!!!! Adams destroyed us that game.
