The exception? I’d say that’s incorrect. When Aaron Rodgers got paid, they won a Super Bowl AFTER that while he was on that contract. They went back after he got his second contract as well. Eli got a big payday, then went on to win. It isn’t going to stop a team from winning the Super Bowl.
when did GB go back to the SB after 2010?

I guess, if you subscribe to a completely polarized viewpoint. Isn't there any room in your brain for a middle ground?

I believe it’s entirely possible for the QB to get ya to a Super Bowl with this magic number. There’s evidence it doesn’t hurt, there’s evidence it does. I see a lot of just running with the bad evidence and those people seem, with their logic, that yeah, Pat Mahomes should just forget about a second contract if he ever wants to win a Super Bowl again. I don’t subscribe to that philosophy at all.

Aaron got paid a few years previous to that Super Bowl. It didn’t prevent them from going and winning. They have made deep playoff runs since, including after ANOTHER huge payday.

Edit: I looked and saw his contract before his win wasn’t as large as we are used to seeing now. 12 years is a long time ago in the football world. He was the fifth highest paid QB after receiving that contract though.

Ok I did not think they ever made it back to SB.
I remember they had a vg defense when they won SB and after that they lost 2 defensive stars, probably could not pay them.
And that is the thing, paying a qb has a trickle effect, and it causes the team to lose players not all at once but year after year.

Rodgers is a lot better than dak and he could never get the team back, because they paid him and invested mostly in offense, sound familiar?
They never had that good defense again.
GB came close several times but bottom line is they could not get back to a SB even though they had the best qb in nfl at the time.

I've seen no evidence that it doesn't hurt. Who are you referring to?

5th highest does not fit today's definition of "being paid".

And that extra money they paid Rodgers is most likely the reason those deep playoff runs haven't led to the super bowl.
