Of the Cowboys 1st half round picks, this is the player that hasn't been as discussed here.
In terms of ability, potential and role this year.

With the Cowboys having several CBs in content for playing time and roles, how does 4th round pick
Reggie Robinson fit in ?

i'm researching and keeping hearing that he may be more better with his face towards the QB ..than having to press turn and go, with his back to the QB.
Hmm, that tends to spell a better zone, off cushion DB than a bump n run CB - but i'm leaving it up to the Scouts who evaluate and projected him, as well as the coaches

But how does he gain experience with Diggs, Worley, Brown, Lewis, and perhaps Awuzie ahead of him ?
Has to be active list in some kind of capacity to be a front running factor next year.

I'm still iffy on roster status of Goodwin and Cannday but Special teams will factor big in game day active list.

Awuzie is likely moving to safety and, honestly, I think one of our corners may end up trade bait. Both Brown and Lewis were on the block at times last year.

I like Lewis much better than Brown. Lewis has the dog mentality.

But we just resigned Brown and Lewis’s contract is about to be up. Lewis would go

Thank you, I'm totally clueless on him & I've been hoping some of the Zoners would start chiming in on what we got with our 4th round pick. Actually I'm a little nervous that I haven't seen any glowing endorsements so far.

Robinson has high potential. He’s at least a year away from seeing any serious playtime but everything about him is prototypical. His size, speed, length, athleticism. Add in that he has solid ball skills and he’s not afraid to try and make plays on the ball. If they do their job developing he could possibly be the best corner on the roster in a few years. He was my pet cat in the draft on defense. Very happy to see him in Dallas.

We did re-sign Brown. He won't be the guy we surprise with a trade. He'd be the guy we try to do right by if he's way down the depth chart. Both are UFA next year

I disagree. In college he played press man almost every snap with no help over the top.

There was a little bit of noise about moving him to S.

Robinson is a 2021 draft pick, meaning next year a Awuzie and Lewis are free agents and he will replace one of those two guys. I happen to be a Chido fan and think he deserves more credit as a player. He has a bad spell for a few games and I think he lost his confidence in the middle of the season but I also think he played better towards the end. Based on everything I have read and heard about Richard's philosophy on defense, I think we need to see Awuzie under a new coach and scheme. He may flourish under Nolan. But he and Lewis are playing for contracts and that could mean one or both have breakout years.

Since Will McClay has been the top employee in the talent acquisition department, the Cowboys have tended to focus on 1 or 2 positions each year that are a "need" position.
- When they focus on a position they tend to stock up on a large number of options at that position.
- In 2018 the OL struggled. In 2019 they kept more OL on the active roster with 11 on the initial cut to 53 instead of the normal 9.

I don't know the term 1st half round...

You describe him as a zone CB then post a video showing that he is a press-man CB ?

They'll all get reps in training camp.

During the draft teams should focus on their needs to following season, not the upcoming season (i.e. 2021 for the 2020 draft).

Robinson will spend a year getting experience and then be ready in 2021.

They're not going to want to have 2 rookies as starting CBs and DIggs likely starts on 1 side.

With Awuzie and Worley both having some Safety abilities, they might go with 7 "CBs" and 3 Safeties on the roster.

Safety (3 or 4):
HaHa
Woods
Wilson
Thompson

CB/Safety:
Awuzie
Worley

CB (4 or 5):
Diggs
Brown
Robinson
Chris Westry
Saivion Smith
Deante Burton
Canady
Goodwin
Lewis

There is no reason to like Lewis better than Brown if you study game footage.

Brown has been better than Lewis.

Lewis got his chance in 2019 and was really bad.

Lewis had about 499 bad plays then 1 INT and fans love him.

Brown has been very good at things fans generally don't see.

The Nickel CB lines up near the end of the DL and needs to be a good run defender because of this positioning.

Brown has been a very good run defender.

In previous years Lewis showed good ability as a tackler; however, in 2019 he was terrible against the run.

I'm not a fan. My reasons:
1. Redshirt Senior who's labeled raw, not good.
2. Gets worked on releases.
3. Gets bullied on releases.
4. Technique poor.
5. Awareness seems off on some plays.
6. Plays slow at times to run a 4.44.
7. Tackling technique is poor.
8. Catch point defense is lacking.

Sunshine: the coaches will be legit if they get this guy to a quality starter level.

The only reason we was available in the 4th was because he went to a small college.

In the NFL he needs coaching on some technique issues some of which were highlighted in the video.
- In college players can get by on athleticism and don't need to change their natural technique.
- In the NFL he either needs to stay in his back-peddle just a tick longer OR he needs to force the WR to commit inside/outside right at the line.
- The Richard Sherman style is to stand right in front of the WR without moving and force the WR to commit inside/outside.
- Richard Sherman didn't really back-peddle when in press-man.
- CBs like Revis would back-peddle until it was clear the WR was not making a double-move.
- Robinson showed a terrific physical ability to go from have his hips turned all the way outside to flipped back to cover the inside move after those double-moves.
- In the NFL that athletic ability to flip his hips all the way back around won't be enough. He has to avoid getting into that situation.
- It is common for college CBs to need technique work. Lewis played an exaggerated trail technique in college that would be a recipe for disaster in the NFL.
