It is very disturbing to witness the effects of using the media to propogandize an issue.
The first thing I noticed was that all the infomation is coming from one side in the negotiating. We are hearing the Cowboy management side of the story, we have heard nothing from Dak's agent. That may not be unusual, but it has been the opposite. Some agents have been known to go to the press and plead their case. Then it becomes a war of words and perceptions.
There are always as many perceptions as there are interested parties and the truth always lie somewhere in the middle. It's my opinion that the more one party talks, the closer you will find the truth pointed towards the other party. The one doing the most talking is the one that feels they need to do the most convincing.
CBS sports claim that this information is up to date. This would imply some flaws in the Jones's narrative.
It has been reported that one of the issues was a 4 year contact versus a 5 year contract and this has been going on for several months but:
• Cowboys have come DOWN from 6-7 year range
• Prescott has come up to 4 years from 3
Let's give them the benefit of the doubt for now and assume this is indeed up tp date.
If Dak was fighting for a three year contract and if the Jones's felt that Dak's future performance might be questionable, then why did they not go with the smaller contract? Surely the impact of Dak's pending demise would not effect the team as much.
The only answer I can come up with is the Jones's and the coaching staff think he will be elite and they want to hang on to him as long as possible.
