yeah, it would be fine if all the WR's on the team and in the NFL gets hurt, then we could bring him in if all the CFL players are hurt too. :0

I had to dig this up to give a bit of a reality check. Dez is a bit of a jerk at times and stirs the pot but doesn’t look like he’s the blame for most of these plays. Dak gets no blame and Dez gets thrown under the bus and railroaded.

That his so damn disrespectful, the names you mentioned haven’t done jack poo when the opportunity was given too then and last time I checked they played on ST that ranked last.

Dez will easily beat them out.

Here we go again.

Players aren't robots. There are relationships involved. Dez isn't coming back. At this point he'll do well do get any team to sign him.

Rather bring Geoff Swaim back to the team.

I think he can beat out Schultz and possibly Bell too.

At least Swaim has a TD to his credit the other two don't even have that.

I want Dez back but I also acknowledge that it’s probably not the move for this team after drafting Lamb.

Still though.. I feel like Dallas owes it to him.

It doesn’t sit right with me how things ended with him and how he didn’t get Witten like respect as he went out the door. He deserved better.

I love Dez. But I'm not convinced he has "sure hands" any more. I love the guy, but I think he's done being a game-changer for anyone.

DEPTH CHART: #4 receiver

I still believe Dez has value on the team given his sure hands and edge that will be needed to win in big moments. Too many drops last year to keep status quo, Dak ain’t losing $100,000 per drop.

This notion that he want play ST is irrelevant since the roster has been expanded to 55 on game day and practice squad players can be activated.

Another major change that will take an immediate effect from the new CBA is a new playoff structure that will include two more teams to the playoff field. A total of seven teams from each conference will make it to the postseason now.

And there will be more players to do so with. Though the roster limit will continue to be 53 for 2020, two players from the practice squad may be brought up to increase roster sizes to 55 on gameday, with those two players reverting back to the practice squad after gameday. Practice squads will also be increased in size from 10 players to 12 beginning this season.”

I got as far as your first line and I'll quote "I still believe Dez has value on the team given his sure hands" . The second from his last season he was one drop from leading the league in drops and his last season he DID lead the league in drops so just where is the proof of those sure hands? Next it doesn't matter that the roster has expanded by 2 players a #4 receiver has to do something more than being the #4 receiver. Those receivers play special teams. Next teams, the Cowboys aren't going to play yoyo with 2 players so they could just keep Bryant as the #4 receiver. To activate a player from the practice squad and then after the game send him back they first have to technically release that player and then resign him to the practice squad but by releasing him ANY team can sign that player. Teams that release players like that who have teams that will play them in the next week or two often sign those players for all the insight they can get on their old team.

If Bryant was even good enough to be a 4th receiver on any team he would have been signed by now. He was after being released by the Cowboys and again is a nothing more than the absolute last resort during the season if a team has multiple injuries to the receiving corp like what happened to the saints having to sign him in week 9 or 10.

Dez Bryant got cut because he could no longer play. If any team somewhere thinks you have to a chance to increase their odds of winning even one football game, then they will give you shot regardless of behavior or history.

Any chance Dez had of being on this team ended when we drafted Lamb. They gave Lamb Dez's old number.

While it would be nice to relive the glory days of Dez, there are a number of reasons why Dez is not a good idea.

1. He would be a massive distraction, even if he didn't want to be. Dez in TC would lead to constant questions of both him and the Cowboys about his role. If Dez was silent, that would twisted into meaning he's disgruntled. If Dez talks, then he risks being a distraction. That alone cancels out any risk in having him.

2. Dez's skills were already declining in his last season here. Since then, two years have passed and he has suffered an injury that can often be a career altering injury. Dez likely doesn't have the physical attributes to do the things that made him a game changer.

3. Route running and precision were never one of Dez's strong suits. WR who last when their skill sets decline often do so by being very good students of the game. I do not have faith Dez has this.

4. While there's a chance that Dez has learned and will come in and be a model student, there is a strong chance that Dez would be a bad influence on the WR group as a whole. While I am less worried about Amari, it is quite possible that if Dez's lack of attention in meetings, lack of being a student of the game, and propensity to be late to meetings would rub off on Gallup and Lamb as well as the other young players.

All that equals to Dez not being worth the risk. Surely, if he could come back, work hard, be a great example to the young guys, quietly accept a complimentary role, and not be a distraction, it would be an awesome feel-good story for the Cowboys. It's just the chance that one of those things derails the whole ship is greater than those things working out.

He could be a specialist- those situations where you want to throw a jump ball in the corner of the endzone on 3rd and goal AND you want the defense to know exactly what you are doing. He would be perfect for that!

We will see a blizzard in downtown Dallas on the 4th of July before that happens.

Nothing against Dez as a person, but..I think it makes ZERO sense to have a “has been“ 32 year old WR take up a developmental roster spot on a team already loaded at WR.
