On January 22, 2018, Richard was hired by the Dallas Cowboys as their defensive backs coach.
On January 13, 2020, it was reported that Richard would not be retained by Dallas following the removal of head coach Jason Garrett.

I agree, but Marinelli was a loser from the word go. As head coach and was never that great of a coordinator. I often wonder who he has pictures of to have kept a job in the league this long.

The longest-lasting memory I will have of the Rod/Richard co-DC debacle is the Rams playoff game:
It was obvious that the Rams had the perfect gameplan to attack our defense. Yet, every time the camera showed our dynamic duo, Rod had a stunned/perplexed look on his face and Richard was yelling something to the effect of "Play Harder!!!"
It was Hall-of-Fame worthy coaching, I tell ya!

he has charisma and video of him running around practice in cleats and talking intense makes fans excited but u hear the storie about how rigid he was with tecnike and scheme which is probably ok with the legion of boom but not this secondary! but the whole aragement with marinelli and coaching the defense sound like a disaster...like coaching the defense as 2 seperete units instead of 1 is the dumbest thing i ever heard and that is on jerry i would think!

Marinelli is still working in the NFL.

The irony is that Marinelli was offered a job about 5 minutes after he left Dallas.
Meanwhile, the "Creator of L.O.B." hasn't received much outside of washing jockstraps
at USC. Go figure... lol
