Wins stop being a team star when the quarterback starts choking. It's a team game, but the weakest link breaks the chain.

The weakest link is clearly not the QB though. The only QB with more yards than Dak last year threw 19 more interceptions (no wonder he isnt starting). They were the best overall offense in football despite leading the league in drops and Elliot having a down year. I think the only game I was disappointed in Dak was against the Eagles where his shoulder was messed up, but they could not start Rush because Dak with 1 arm is better than Rush.

If the season is canceled and Dak decides to play on the franchise tag he’ll lose $31 million this season because that money is only paid out if there’s a season. He’s going to be taking a big gamble if he doesn’t sign by July 15 because he can’t negotiate a new contract until next year. I think he and his agents will take it right down to the wire and make a deal.

There is no chance they cancel the season. They might not have fans in the stands, but they will not cancel the season. Also part of the contracts are game checks which also only work if there are games to collect a check during.

Don’t kid yourself there’s a chance they could cancel the season. We’re a long way from being out of the woods. The NFL will likely attempt to play games with no fans or limited fans in attendance. As for game checks they may not be paid out if there’s no season but players still have their guaranteed money. A big portion of contracts is the upfront guaranteed money.

They will play a season even if they have to delay the start 3 months. Its too big a risk to the television contracts not to.

They’ll play a season if they feel it’s safe and that won’t be up to the league. That’s the bottom line!

Not sure how one would determine that. Multiple outlets had Dak as the number one free agent this offseason. You don't think a top ten QB would get $30 million plus on the open market or are you just stupid?
w

Although I think DAK will get signed by July 15th, If Jerry decided to ride it out with Andy Dalton...DAK would find it hard to find a new team this year, especially who can pay him 30Mil .....aka Cam Newton.....Just to late in the off season as teams have already filled there rosters

I keep seeing posts about him holding out or waiting until the very last minute to sign the tag in September and show up for work and that is ridiculous.

Let's start with what we know about him. The number one characteristic, and one even his detractors can agree with, is leadership. He is not going to let his teammates down. This is all business now. This will have 0 effect on his ability or desire to lead his team.

He has plenty of time to sign the tag because there is nothing happening right now. He's not the one that keeps trying to get a longer than 4 year contract. He has never, never, nor has his agent, said he is not signing the tag and reporting to work.

If he and his agent had ever considered a hold out, which I don't believe they did, that has changed. The situation has changed and with the unemployment continuing to climb, he and his agent know very well how a guy holding out with 31.4M sitting there, along with the endorsements, is going to play. He would be the most despised pro athlete in the world. Think those companies would keep him? Think again. The mood in this country is sour and we're just looking for someone to take it out on.

Throughout this entire ordeal, dating back to last off season, Prescott has handled himself well, taking care not to say the wrong things. These leaks? Not coming from his camp.

The money will get settled, either he will play for the tag or he will sign a 4 year extension, the standard QB contract over the last several years. He will be ready to go to work with his new coaching staff, installing a new offense, and all of this will fade.....until he makes the first mistake, then the Dakaters will have another go at him. But at least that will be about the actual game.

Dak Prescott was never planning on not being the Dallas Cowboys QB1 come the first game of the season. The FO was never planning on him not being that. Too many have gotten themselves all twisted up in the business that is really none of our business.

If NFL ball is played, Dak Prescott will be there, like it or not. He was never planning on being anywhere else.

Dak should do everything he can to ensure a successful season, whether he plays on the tag or an extension. Holding out is just dumb and hammers his own market value.

Smart on Daks part, 2 tags will net him around 65 to 67 million, and as 3rd tags don’t happen due to cost it is the smart play for Dak.

Since last season, I thought that's what they were shooting for.

If he didn't feel pressure to sign while making 2mil, why would he feel pressure to sign while making 30mil?

Show me where Brees did it intentionally.
Show me Dak's resume that proves he can get it done like Brees.
Don't compare Dak to Drew Brees. Dak has never led a team to victory. He's won with teams, but never led.

Even though I could show you his readily available resume that shows him off to a historic start for a 4 year player I won't waste time
on someone whom has already decided he sucks. And if you haven't seen Dak lead our team to victory you must have missed a ton of games... Feel sorry for you man.

It also runs the risk of ruining the Cowboys season which is his leverage. As was Zeke's. As much as people want management to spite Dak and roll with Dalton, there's no way in Hades management wants to actually roll with Dalton. So there's motivation on both sides to get a deal done. That's why it will get done.

Naw, he just hates Dak so much he can’t see anything else.

And the bottom line is they are already being told how to restart. Sports are going to be starting up soon just without fans. Fans will not be at games for quite awhile (packed venues are a bad idea), but there will be an NFL season. Dak has a better chance of lowering his value by getting injured then by the season not happening (plus I wonder if his insurance covers no season).

Right, the league is being “told” how to start up. How they start up isn’t up to them. The league and everyone else is stuck at home right now because everyone has been ordered to stay at home. It wasn’t the NFL that decided to have a virtual draft, they had no choice. No one wants their business shut down but it’s not up to them. Everyone is losing money and the governing bodies could care less how much money the NFL loses if there’s no season. They’ll start up when they’re told they can start up just like everyone else.

No one said or at least I never said that he would be lowering his value if the season doesn’t happen. The only thing that will lower his value is if the season does happen and he doesn’t play well.

Baseball is going to be starting up next month. The NBA is probably going to be shortly after. There is no basis for the NFL somehow not starting up. Something would have to change in the status quo for the NFL to not open up even in September and something very drastic would have to change for it not to open up at all.
