You would be hard-pressed to find someone in the history of the world that knows more about football, and specifically the Dallas Cowboys, than Pro Football hall of Famer Gil Brandt. When Mr. Brandt speaks, people listen. He remains one of the most influential voices in the NFL community and has one of the greatest scouting eyes that the game has ever seen.

    • Roger Staubach
    • Troy Aikman
    • Danny White
    • Tony Romo
Mr. Brandt has both Prescott and Romo in his top five, but the former at third and the latter at fifth.

Spots one and two are taken by Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman, respectively, and Danny White even makes an appearance at number four. It truly is fascinating that Prescott would not only outrank Romo just four seasons in, but Danny White, too. It says a lot about how impressive Dak Prescott’s career has been to this point in time.

Yea, these passer ratings in this pass happy era are often ballooned.

I think most of us if we take our star on the helmet blinders off know what an Elite prolific passer looks like.
Exactly. Dak is a good player. He is an extremely effective player when used properly. He is not, as of yet, a top 10 passing QB in this league.

I like Brandt's list especially Romo at 5 since the guy won a total of what two playoff games and was a choke artist, as I always say Romo was a decent quarterback who was second tier and could never break into the elite class sorry Romo lovers.

I fixed it for everyone. Close the thread.

  1. Roger Staubach
  2. Troy Aikman
  3. Danny White
  4. Tony Romo
  5. Don Meredith
  6. Dak Prescott
Meredith and Aikman are tied for 2/3. White and Romo were not better than Don. Not close.

If Prescott was the end his career right now I would agree. But the story hasn’t been written yet. If he gets his ring. I’ll put him third overall

How about this not-so-subjective way of ranking the QBs, based on the # of NFC championship appearances they guided their team to:

1. Roger Staubach (5)

2. Troy Aikman (4)

3. Danny White (3)

4. Don Meredith (2)

5. Tony Romo (0)

6. Dak Prescott (0)

I realize you need a complete team to advance to the title game, especially on defense. But you also need a field general at QB. You need that guy who can will his offense and outscore the other team in the post season even when his defense has let them down. See what Brady did against the Falcons.

I do believe Dak can move up on this list. He has the ability. But he's not there yet.

You're missing Craig Morton, Mark Sanchez and Vinny Testaverde

Well, I was referring to the guys on the original top 6 list. And not QBs that took other teams to championship games, especially those that were merely bus drivers.

Yes, Morton helped take Dallas to SB V. But I nor anyone else would put him ahead of anyone else on that list.
