Some need to tap the breaks on the McCarthy hype train. He seems to have embraced analytics, which is very encouraging, but his offensive schemes in Green Bay left a lot to be desired, and are only a marginal upgrade over Garrett's.

Really? Have you looked at the actual numbers and rankings?

I'm thinking not.

If the season manages to get off the ground, I believe McCarthy and Co. will come out of the gate fast, reel off 10 -11 win for the division title on the way to coach of the year honors for the big guy.

A trip to play for the Halas Trophy would not be a surprise. This team has been loaded for 4 years and now the Cowboys have someone who can do something special with talent.

I'm not sure if it's related or not, but Vegas oddsmakers agree with you:

Bill Belichick and Mike McCarthy are the favorites to win Coach of the Year this year:

I think plenty of people outside of this forum realize what the biggest issue has been with the Dallas Cowboys for the past decade-plus. And now that it's gone, so are the disappointing results.

Garrett lovers beware, your days are numbered.

That's gonna be tough because if he wins, that's because of Dak so he won't get it. If he loses its 100% his fault so he won't get it.Tough times for MM.
Nah. The fall guy the media will use is Garrett on how he couldn't accomplish squat in his 9 plus sessons and how Big Mac accomplished it in his first season. BOOM!
:lmao:

I don't think so. I think either belichick will or Harbaugh or Shanahan.

I still am interested if people think McCarthy will win more games in Dallas with Prescott/Dalton than Belichick will in NE with Stidham/Hoyer?

Coach of the year is an empty award. Who gives a crap?? Time to win. Garrett was coach of the year once upon a time and it meant absolutely nothing.

The title of "Coach of the Year" does not mean what it once did if a coach as bad as Garrett can be awarded it.

Coach of the year is an empty award. Who gives a crap?? Time to win. Garrett was coach of the year once upon a time and it meant absolutely nothing.

Sure it does! It just didn't mean much the year the carrot top puppet won it. We should not let that stain on the profession ruin the mean of that honorary award.

Thanks, stasheroo.......didn't realize that. I sincerely believe McCarthy is going to be a perfect storm of highly motivated, quality coach with good talent in a division that won't be up to the task of keeping pace.

As long as he's not constantly clapping, he'll have my full support.

Exactly. I hope for the best , but MM has his own set of problems that he has to overcome.

I don't count on MM getting Coach of the Year any more than I expect the Cowboys to get over 9 wins -- too many tough adjustments to make. That's not to say they won't, though. I just think the many new players and the adjustments yet to be made will render it awfully difficult to eek out more than 9 wins. We'll see about that, no doubt.

I like Big Mac. I really do. But I don't see him shooting out of the gate and running rampant over anybody (unless he's in Pamplona, Spain at the Running of the Bulls). Then look out.

He'll do well. But he'll lose his share too.

You may be right, but at the very least I really do believe the Cowboys will unmistakably be a better coached, more talented, more exciting team to watch, both on defense and offense.
I think last year's uninspired 8-8 performance is a thing of the past.

Well if any of that is accurate as to who McCarthy really is, then we're in trouble. Thank goodness it sounded like some adolescent loser's attempt at a B movie soap opera script.

I think I actually made it through almost 1/2 of it before I had to bail.

It’s definitely a little long. Like anything, take it with a grain of salt. McCarthy’s a good coach but I don’t think he’s the 4 win addition some seem to think. Every team with a new coach is going to be at a bit of a disadvantage to start the year IMO.
