I'm beginning to think the Player's Union might be whispering in ears here.
I remember a certain player for a certain sport signing on to a team for less than market value (to help win a Championship) and the Player's Union had gripes about the precedent it was leaving and trying to protect players' salaries.

This was like 2, maybe 3 years ago.

I can't think of a Union that would forgive and forget such a thing. They are trying to drive player salaries up because, you know... they represent the players. Little guys be damned, but that's another story.
This is a great point, and one I haven't seen anyone else bring up. I'm a little irked this hasn't crossed my mind either. But it's true that the NFLPA is going to pressure players to get all they can because its entire existence is based on improving things for the player. Accordingly, the NFLPA would frown heavily on players making deals contrary to that agenda. Obviously when a player reaches Tom Brady status he isn't concerned about backlash from the NFLPA, but a young player getting his first big contract is a different situation.

Mahomes will be the highest paid quarterback but maybe he's smart enough and knows he needs supporting cast and takes a reasonable deal.

I see it the opposite.

Mahomes signs a stupid contract, 45 million a year/150 million guaranteed.

If Prescott comes to Dallas wanting more money, Dallas is going to say no, play on the tag. Dallas will then start the process of finding their next QB.

It might be Dalton that bridges the position till a new QB is found.

Good. Dak being the highest paid QB wouldve been a joke :facepalm:
Priceing himself off the team.

Either way the Cowboys will benefit this year from the Quarterback competition.

Perceptions aside, Dalton is a competant QB and the Cowboys offense is loaded. I feel whichever is the QB will have a carear year.

We will see the best out of Dak because he performs his best when there is a fire lit... at other times he is laxidasical.

Its his inconsistancy which frustrates 50% of the fan base. Dak is primed for success this year.

But he has to be here. But if he's not or if he falters with a stretch of offensive ineptidude then Andy will have a carear year

Win/ Win

This whole drama as-if this stall until 7/15 is all about Dak wanting x-money for x-years and the Joneses not being willing to pay it?

Nonsense.

Dak originally wanted a three year deal. No QB in his right mind wants a long contract the way salaries have been increasing for QBs. They'd much rather have multiple pay days.

Teams, on the other hand, want to pay them once and lock them in for years.

#1 Mahomes comes from a family that is well of.
#2 he’s the face of the NFL gets plenty of endorsements
#3 he wants to win multiple championships and realizes that the pie is only so big.

I don’t think he breaks the bank. Fairly compensated yes. But he’s not that greedy.

For those that dont like Dak this is great news.

Because if Daks representation is foolish enough to compare to Mahomes Dak will get franchised and be sent packing.

Before anyone poops their panties I like Dak, BUT he isnt Mahomes by a country mile.

See this is where rational Dak supports draw the line....if Dak is asking for anything equal or above Mahomes...I will jump on DiNucci bandwagon...

My heart can't handle 118 Career INT Dalton

Exactly, but IMO this just makes it more likely nothing happens anywhere until July 15th and it still comes down to one side blinking at the last minute.

Cross your fingers the Chiefs don't firehose money at Mahomes first.

No. I want to see Mahomes get paid a king's ransom. Because right now I still think Jerry has the mindset to pay Dak. I don't think that would be the case if Dak ups the demand.
