Are you suggesting that Dak will hold out and not sign the tag if Dallas doesn’t meet his demands?
Yes. If no deal is agreed upon, I would not be surprised if Dak sits out and doesn't get paid for any games missed if he feels slighted but forced to stick to the tag offer after July 15 for the rest of the 2020 season.

Dak gets signed before the 15th. Everytime my phone gives me a alert I am expecting to see the announcement. 35 a year.

If Dak holds out of TC and Dalton lights it up then it could get interesting. If Daks agent is smart he will tell Dak to show up and don’t pull a Elliot. The signing of Dalton put the leverage back in JJ favor. But I believe Dak gets 35.

Common sense and it's as simple as that in Dak's situation.
He is not or will ever be a QB who warrants this kind of cash payout.
He will take the tag and then take the bench as Dalton is a better QB!
Now you go ahead and call me a hater but it is what it is and Dak and his lovers are due for a reality crash landing!

I will believe it when I see it. If Dak signs the tag and shows up then he will start. He can go in and sign the contract offer now if he wants. It will be close to Wilson contract. Does he deserve it. No. None of them are worth that money. Heck mahomes won the SB and threw 2 picks. If they lost the SB he would still get 40 a year.

If Dak holds out then maybe Dalton starts the season. If we went 4-0 then maybe Dalton keeps the job.

Lol...well good luck to Dak in that scenario. He will certainly need it

Hahaha.. ..you see mahomes, unlike amari cooper, does not need to wait and see what someone else signs for. Mahomes, not dak will be the one setting the market.
Didn't say he "needs to wait" I said he's an idiot if he doesn't. Dak will likely be the highest paid QB in the league when he signs his contract. A smart person would use that contract as the springboard to begin negotiating. The conversation would go something along the lines of "That guy didn't make the playoffs last year and hasn't thrown a TD in 1/4 of the games he's played in and he's the highest paid QB in the league. I'm the Super Bowl MVP in my 3rd year, I've played in 33 fewer games and only have 20 fewer TD passes. Get out your wallet, because this is going to hurt, a lot."

good for him but the DC fo wont give him more, they would have already offered it, hes on the FT at a set cost already and next season the FO should be smart and out dak on non exclusive tag or TT and see some real market interest in teams willing to pay dak 40plus..

it would be a very short list..im trading dak before I pay him money anywhere near Mahomes money..

Mahomes is a smart kid and wants to win multiple superbowls(who doesnt). He knows its all about the talent around him.

Wouldn't suprise me if he signs for 38-40mil. I honestly don't see him asking to break the bank.

There is no way this happens. If Dak is here on the tag he is starting the season unless he is injured. They aren't gonna pay Dak $32 million and then have an open qb competition.

he can say those words and never mention Dak. The chiefs arent gonna flinch paying him 45-50 million per season as they know he is the chosen one.

Dak will get 35. I am thinking that has already been offered to him. Things are getting finalized. Then mahomes will get 40. If other QB want to hold out and get more then I think teams will not give it to them. We may see QB in there 3rd year wanting to renegotiate. Most likely are happy with what they got.

They can't renegotiate a rookie contract. They are required to play out the rookie deal and can only talk about an extension after 3 years. But can't renegotiate a rookie deal.

This whole drama as-if this stall until 7/15 is all about Dak wanting x-money for x-years and the Joneses not being willing to pay it?

Nonsense.

It's about Dak wanting to wait to see if Mahomes signs something in the interim.

If he does, it potentially re-sets the market and gives him an extra wad of money. If he doesn't, then Dak at least hasn't committed to something prematurely and live to regret it... the choice, in that case and at that point, will be a straight-up question of if he likes the offer on the table enough to sign, or would rather play a year under the franchise tag.

Pat Mahomes' agent would be stupid to agree to any deal before Dak's agent does and you can bet Pat's agent has already figured this out. The fact they are talking to the KC FO about Pat's next contract is pretty much a moot point. Nothing there is getting signed until after Dak is forced to agree to something. Mahomes'agent has the advantage because he can wait this standoff out.

At this point in time the Jones' are going to only be left with the option of walking away, tanking the season and hoping that it will lead to a #1 pick and perhaps adding Lawrence

Hard to tell. Dalton isn't terrible, but he isn't the greatest either. But it's a safe bet by Dak to hold out.

Mahomes strikes me as the kind of guy who would put winning before resetting the market and possibly sign for less than expected. I'm not saying it will, but I could see waiting for Mahomes to sign having a negative effect on Dak's potential money. There's no realm of possibility I give Dak more than Mahomes gets irregardless of the reasoning.

I haven't seen this discussed. If you do a quick search, the rumor is that Mahomes wants to be the first guy with a salary directly tied to the cap. Its not a bad idea for either side.

Overall, both sides are being clear that they want Mahomes to get a lot of money while not killing the team's ability to compete. It will be interesting to see where this lands. If Mahomes takes a deal paying him 17% of the cap, its going to really screw with the Dak negotiation. Mahomes would effectively be taking less now with the expectation of making much more later.

Those thinking Mahomes is going to sign at the 40 million mark are mistaken. The 40 million mark is the basement. That's not happening.

All reports say this will be a deal like no other. Mahomes will definitely be the first 200 million dollar player. It's just how much more he gets.

By the reports it seems he will be in the neighborhood of 45 to 50 million a year. But the reports also said it could take 12 to 15 months to get a deal done.

These numbers are so out there that they will have no bearing on the Prescott negotiations.
