I actually look at Garrett and Dak very similarly. I think with both, if you give them a lot of talent they can get you to 10-12 wins and even a playoff win. But the problem I find with each is that they don’t elevate the talent around them, they look to the talent to elevate themselves. But you can do a lot worse than JG as a HC and Dak as a starting QB. But you also are not likely to end up with anything in your trophy case.

I have been reading all the Dak threads and it seems that he is such an average QB, not talented and some even say he is not worthy of starting in this league and that QBs like him are dime a dozen and can be found anywhere, any time....so Garrett had done an outstanding job, by winning to NFC east titles and going 1-2 in the playoffs, being handicapped at the most important position on the team for the past 4 years....he must have not realized he has hit fools gold in 2016......

I guess we should have kept Garrett, given what he accomplished with such an average to below average QB...

Literally no one has said, "he's not worthy of starting in this league." Stop it.

What outstanding job did Garrett do? What did he accomplish again? I mean, it goes both ways. If Prescott is that good like some people say, who's fault is it then that we didn't win anything?

The Cowboys were 40-24 in the regular season with Dak.

The Cowboys made the playoffs 2 years of 4 with Dak as the QB.

Either Dak was good or Garrett was good.

They can't both have been terrible and won that many games.

Pick which one was terrible. Garrett or Dak.

I don't believe that the roster, generally speaking, was as good during Garrett's tenure as most think.

Many seasons had staggering amounts of dead money, one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Rarely, if ever, did the team have a championship caliber defense.

A top heavy roster held little depth.

Yes, it was time for Garrett to go. No debate there. But this was not a super-bowl level team that failed to win a championship due to coaching.

TGIF
I get that the original intent was somewhat sarcastic and if your comment was along those lines then yes jokes on me. I can assure you though all that posted in this thread was not of that nature. again my bad if you were being sarcastic but there are so many here down on our QB its hard to realize all the time who is being serious

It will be easy to quantify, all McCarthy has to do is get Dak to lead them to the NFC championship, then everybody will be happy.

Dak is a good Quarterback. Garrett was a bad coach here. Any coach that plays the puppet won't amount to much here. With that said, don't confuse with some of our unwillingness to spend more than a certain percentage of the salary cap on one player as us saying he sucks or that we don't want him to be our quarterback. I mean, we have people here who want to paint the world black and white and allow no shades of grey to paint their picture for their arguments. There is a difference between thinking that Dak should get paid, what is fair, and thinking that he should be the highest paid quarterback in the NFL, thinking that doing so will reduce our chances of a championship. you are trying paint the picture so that there are only people who are haters, and smart people who see how good dak is, while completely ignoring that some people want Dak as the QB here but aren't willing to break the bank for him.

3 #1 offensive linemen? one #1 (3rd pick) rb who lead the league in rushing 2 of 4 years and would probably had done it 3 of 4 if not for a witch hunt.

I think "terrible" for some people might really mean unacceptably average? .

Post of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And secondly, this staff under Garrett was notoriously bad about developing players. Dak was not improving much at all until we finally brought in Kitmo, and then he started looking better. Problem is, we still don't know what he'll be due to that.
