Dude had 33.5 sacks in his first 2 years, best start ever in NFL History. At his best he was at least as good as D-Ware, who was great. But what can he do now? That's the question. No one can question what he did as a pass rusher in his early 20's, but 30? TBD. Give me 80% of that guy and I will be happy.

The problem is he is talking about Aldon Smith from 6-7 years ago. I'm all for giving Smith a shot, but odds are against him still being that kind of player.

Yep. Lots of players were monsters that long ago. I guess the good news is he’s only 30.

I really wish they signed this guy to at least a 2 year deal. Just solely based on the possibility he is a beast. And if he isn't, what do the Cowboys lose? But if he is, no way the Cowboys are resigning him. All that money is going to our first ballot HOF quarterback.

Aldon Smith's five-year layoff makes him a gamble to make the team as a starter. At the same time, his current physicality renders him likely to make the team as a rotational DE. In fact, we have a handful of DE candidates who stand good chances to make this team with such encouraging qualities. I think it's one of the things that makes this year's FA crop so special. They might well comprise a very special group of rotational talents. ;)

He's buried behind Dorance Armstrong.

He's here to collect a check.
