I hear that he has petitioned the league to be allowed to smoke on the sidelines, any truth to that?!

I was under the assumption that Randy Gregory filed for reinstatement on or before March 22. I also thought the NFL had "60" days to rule on any reinstatements.

We're easily beyond the 60 day reinstatement deadline, so can anyone clarify why this is still unresolved?

I think you mistook what Troy Vincent has said the NFL tries and under normal situations rule on reinstatement cases within 60 days. I don't think there is any set time frame that they have to be decided on by.

Broadus alluded to Gregory's case being more complicated than Smith's around draft week. That would explain the delay. Maybe not a sure thing like we originally thought.

Smith is older and farther removed from playing than Gregory, so he’s more of a risk to be ineffective. But at their primes it isn’t even close. Smith was a generational talent and one of the best players in the NFL. Gregory was potential with a few flashes.
I am really just hoping under McCarthy we just stop all these 'Animal Rescues' soon.

We just borrow trouble too often doing it and we are not regarded as heroic doing it.

The fact Big Mike spoke about Smith looking so good after his layoff.

It's all fine and well but I really hope it's just coach speak and not something he does much of DTR.

I do not care for the distractions and I bet the players do not want it.

They just want to play and watch film and get ready to play.

Not answer questions about another player who has repeatedly been suspended or a player like Dak and is his negotiations affecting the team or not.

Give me a break.

I disagree with everything you said here.

My guess is the league office has provided a response to Gregory and the Cowboys. That response isn’t favorable to Gregory. More time is being taken before he is conditionally reinstated or a flat out denial is officially announced. My gut feeling is he probably failed or missed a test after filing for reinstatement.
Interesting. It is possible.

Roger has as long as he wants. We should know that by know after Zeke.
That's not true, the commish has 60 days. Apparently, when we last heard from Randy Gregory's agent about the same time Aldon Smith was reinstated, the comment that was made meant something. Their comment at that time was, "Randy is working through the process". So here we are beyond the 60-day mark and Randy is "working through the process". My interpretation of this is the commish doesn't think Randy has done enough to be reinstated just yet.

Very simple answer:

  • Badell hates the Cowboys!
  • Badell hates Jerry Jones!
  • Badell does the bidding of other owners!

It seems as though Goodell wants to take as much time as he can for Randy to show he's ready to quit pot on a permanent basis. I suspect RG's still having trouble doing so but I'll openly confess, it's just guesswork on my part. Whatever the reasoning for the delay is, it's not being released for public consumption. By now, Goodell is likely feeling far less inclined to look like a hapless sucker yet again. I've read a while back that he's still "large and in charge," despite the newly-established lenience policy. I guess we'll eventually see how all this plays out in due time. o_O

Is it legal, possible or even a desire for Smith and Gregory to live together?

You can’t rely on someone with Gregory’s issues. I hope he’s doing well personally but the Cowboys should’ve moved on a while ago.

They no longer suspend for testing positive for THC. They can fine and impose counseling. Gregory already gets counseling.

One of the rumors floating around has been that the problem was Gregory missed a test even though he was in an in-house treatment facility being tested there. If true that would make the legal arguments a lot longer and more complicated than the typical Rico Gathers type of suspension where there is a police report and X number of grams of weed.

Seriously doubt Gregory ever steps on to a nfl football field ever again.

Move on.

Bingo!!!!!!! Been saying all alone, Goodell's not letting him back with dirty pss. Meaning IF he can stop smoking for about 60 days, he gets back in IMO but easier said and done when you're talking about Randy.

The problem as I understand it is Gregory having been suspended under the old rules. That means that Goodell can block his reinstatement. If Gregory is reinstated, he would be subject to the new rules.
