Really rooting for this guy. To read about his turnaround and his motivation is impressive.

Lawrence, Aldon, Gregory rushing the passer all game could be a nightmare.

Two big DT's and the young 3rd rounder in the middle with LVE, Jaylon and Lee behind them? Front 7 could be insane.

It'd certainly make an inspirational and intriguing story if he were just fractionally as good as he once was. I wouldn't be at all surprised if many of us decided to make him our favorite player if that happens. Especially so, if he were able to become a key component in our defense! :)

Couldn't agree more. Maybe not All-Pro good any more, but still seriously upgrades the DL.

The entire DL/Front 7 will surprise people this year.

I am thinking great leadership and motivation as well. Which this defense sorely needs.

Adding Poe, Aldon, Ha ha, and McCoy is a hell of a lot of veteran leadership out there. EXACTLY what this defense has been lacking.

Probably sit out 10 years and get as many sacks as Tank did last year.

Agreed.. really like how the front 7 is shaping up. Hoping for the best for Smith. Guy was a hell of a talent when he entered the league, so we'll see? It was a nice low risk 1 year signing. I'm hoping he plays well enough to earn a few more years with this team!

And is so grateful McCarthy gave him a shot that he gives us a super team friendly deal.

I think Nolan will have these guys believing in the system after enduring that vanilla mess where everyone knew what we were doing.

I agree and expect that they will rally as a unit and play well.

They definitely have a nice mix of older and young dudes that can get to the passer.

That all said, if this defense can be any good really at ALL, the team ought to be in contention to finally play deep into January.

Agreed. I said in another thread that I’m rooting for him not just as a cowboy but as a person. Great to hear these stories and hope this turns out to be a memorable story

I’m fine with fans pulling for Aldon Smith but those who are getting all worked up about the potential of our pass rush with him and Gregory who has yet to be reinstated better tap the brakes.
Nah, it's full throttle all the way...unless we have a wreck.

With some fans it’s always full throttle which usually ends in wreck on this board. There’s been a number of crash and burn threads over the years. It’s always entertaining finding the links and posting them. There’s one fan already picking 17+ sacks for Smith. Apparently he still sees him for what he was nine years ago. Another fan posted that he doesn’t see how there’s anyway we don’t end up the top sacking team in the league with Smith and Gregory. That comment has crash and burn written all over it. I made sure to bookmark that one.

Be careful, don't say anything positive. Many do not like it on here.

What do you mean by worked up? Those two have a chance to provide a very good pass rush off the edge. Throw in the consistency of Crawford against the run at RDE and I see a well rounded RDE position with lots of possibilities.

Great. Another Thug who beat up his girlfriend Jerry is willing to take on.
