RJ Ochoa was on the radio Sunday with Chris Arnold.

Dak status:

This will end up waiting until the last minute and will get done. This is the MO. of Jerry.

An interesting quote attributed to Jerry was this.

"I am not uncomfortable with ambiguity."

Meaning, he does not fret the status right now of how this will turn out.

Fans have no clue on this subject and this is going at the normal speed of the Jones boys. (Their words)

Training Camp:

Just speculation, but because of California being up in the air about things, it may very well end up being in Frisco, Texas at the Star and Ford field.

Aldon Smith:

Ochoa thinks if he could have four sacks, and those are at significant times, then this should be considered as successful for this player.

From another show on 105.3 - don't know the hosts but it was after 7 pm so these are their spares

McCarthy will have an extra amount of difficulty in getting the rookies up to speed because Zoom does not supplant a rookie workout that in normal times would be taking place.

He also will have a tough time showing up for training camp and getting things organized because this is all new for everyone. He has to install his offense, and defense along with special teams. But do so in a truncated manner since he does not have an entire off season. They believe this will really hurt the Cowboys. Because the transition to a new coach and new terminology, which is difficult enough, now will be extra tough.

The discussion of taking Chaisson versus Cee Dee Lamb comes down to McCarthy deciding he could be more effective by making the offense as good as it can be versus taking a defensive player that may not be on the field on every down.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Sorry, this seems random and a little vague, but other than the Dak comment at the top, this is a change of subject for this board. Keep in mind that discussion was not about Dak, his value, what he expected to make, or Wentz, Goff and every other QB in the league now, has ever been in the league, or will ever be in the league in the future. It merely was commenting on the process and how fans don't understand this is Jerry and Stephen and business as usual.

If we have both Gregory and Smith, they will probably rotate with each. I could 4 for Smith and 5 or 6 for Gregory

2 things...…………...

1. Getting rookies up to speed is the same for every coach
2. MM didn't puck Lamb for any other reason then this is what Jerry wanted to do because he was far and away BPA. As I am sure MM agreed with.

We're sorta lucky this year in that we have 5 preseason games vs. the normal 4. That will give the coaching staff extra time and extra evaluation. Both positives.
yes.
plus every other team is dealing with the same thing....that levels any advantage a team might have because they have the same coaches vs teams that made changes.
every team is dealing with this virtual off-season...and the challenges.

Wondering if they will even have a pre-season way things are.

Weird how the whole NFCE got tired of being out of the race all at the same time. OK Philly kept Pederson, but they're our division's outcast sibling.

That should lessen the blow for us a bit.

I think so also. I get SO TIRED of all this doom and gloom about shortened transition time, installing the changes properly, new coaches, new players, new terminology, blah, blah, blah...

1)It’s football, not calculus. These guys are professionals.
2)The pandemic shortened everything for everyone. We’re all in the same boat.
3)Most agree, we’re loaded with talent.
4)McCarthy’s a better coach than Garrett, and he had a whole year off to study the game and make himself better. He will have contingency plans for his contingency plans. I’m not worried, I’m excited. Let the worrywarts worry.

Makes perfect sense with Lamb over Chaisson (and also because hes the better player)

Its rare you see a team with total balance win a SB anymore, they usually dominate one side and are "just enough" on the other side
