This. I don't understand the rush to sign the multi year contract with so many questions still swirling. Some fans love Dak, some hate dak, some are on the fence. Some 'media' experts have him top 3 QB, others put him well down the pecking order. With the majority agreeing that he is 'somewhere' in that middle range of 6th to 14th best QB in the league. We have great statistics across the board but the 'eye test' points to more issues than the stats reveal. The capitulation at the end of last season and five years in the job without significant silverware is concerning.

Dak is at the end of a five year stint as starter of this team. Five years with the best (or at the least top three) OLine and RB in the league.. five years with a solid WR corp and widely considered 'strong' team.. and yet one playoff win and not even a trip to conference game.

The dude is not 'young' anymore.. he is not a rookie.. he is now entering what will become his prime production years. There are still a lot of questions. How much with the change of coach help? Can he get his footwork right? Will he learn to beat top teams?

WIth all that going on.. I don't see why you have to sign the big deal this year. Put him on the tag, play him on the tag (or let him sit and put Dalton in).. and then get a better idea towards the end of this season as to where he sits. I see no value in signing him to a long term deal that could blow up in our faces right now. None.
First off, it’s been four years, not five. Second, I’m very glad you’re not the team’s GM.

He had a big yr statistically but was a failure. Where over his career he won close games, last yr he lost them close games. In close games he just couldnt make that one play. I know the system was predictable. But its been predictable and he still got them close wins. IMO i think if he would've signed that deal it wouldnt have been on his mind. And i really think they would've been in the playoffs. IM not blind to his flaws. He started almost every game slow. Against the better teams they played he would get on track but it just wasnt good enough. He tried to win games with one throw, as Romo did during his gunslinger yrs. Stats dont win championships is all i know. Marino and Fouts have zero titles.
Bro, it's extremely hard to win games, especially against the better/harder opponents, when your WRs led the league in dropped passes (51), your defense was 3rd highest throughout the league in missed tackles, your special teams was by far the worst special teams unit throughout the league and your FG kicker had the most missed FGs (10), especially since most of those missed FGs were in the "easy" range (30-40 yarders). That's not including the terrible coaching aspect of the game from Garrett and his coaching staff which 95% was fired immediately at the end of the season.

Let's be fair and honest as to "why" those 8 games were lost and "who" contributed to those losses last year. Dak was the lowest denominator to that answer.

Yeah i am glad I am not the GM too.. cause our organisation is doing so well.. I mean it is just raining superbowls lately eh?!

So many of our fanbase are stuck living in the past.. we are staring at two decades without success.. at what point to you admit that we haven't kept pace with the league? That we are no longer a powerhouse team?

Dak will get his monster contract, of that I have no doubt, so you will be very happy that our GM is not me. But then don't cry when Dak continues to produce trash against top defences and we are stuck in a perennial 8-8 season loop.

Dak is a solid QB that has benefitted from the strength around him. Whenever conditions weren't perfect.. he goes missing. We know that you need a top line QB to win anything serious in this league. Dak is just not that guy.

But I'm hoping 2030 will be our year.
