The reason I worded it the way I did is first it's a fact but also because some people here think what they write here has some kind of impact on what the Cowboys do.

8-8 record make the playoffs as a wild card team in the last spot that was just added. The schedule is tougher than people think.

Minimum: A well prepared team every week with a specific game plan based upon the weaknesses of our opponent.

Maximum: Taking advantage of our own talent on both sides of the ball. On offense I would like us to emulate our 90s team (something JG wanted, just couldn't pull off). We have a talented recieving core and a thunder and lightning running attack. Let's open the offense early, then grind our opponents down in the 2nd half. On defense, I would like to see the 90s version again, Smith is the new Haley and we rank in the top 5 scoring wise, with little to no pro bowlers. On special teams, hopefully Fassel can make us respectable again, that alone would be a huge success.

Minimum goal, win the east. Maximum goal, win it all.

No excuses for Dak and the offense. Tired of the blame going from Dez to the OLine to Witten for Daks failures. No more 3 quarter a game duds against decent defenses.

If someone is slacking on defense I expect them to come off the field, not "never consider benching them".

Going anywhere near 8-8 would be a massive failure.

That would be good. You put what I was thinking into words. It was the seemingly lackadaisical effort just bugged me. I would just like to see more attention to detail. The little things.

My min goal is always a moving target:

Initial goal: be in the playoff hunt at thanksgiving

then moves to

- meaningful games through end of season (aka still in playoff hunt)
- make playoffs
- win division
- win playoff game
- advance to nfc championship
- win nfc championship
- win superbowl

The question was in regards your minimum goal they had to achieve. And you get people answering what their maximum goal would be or how far they can should go.

Cant follow simple instructions.

Either they don't understand or they are purposefully misunderstanding the question so as to sound impressive or whatnot. They seem to think minimum and maximum are the same thing.

The offense is loaded, new coaches, better looking defense, new ST coach, and last but not least
the great dak prescott !

Finishing with a record of 12-4 would be preferable, to help with home field in playoffs.

Even if dalton starts game 1, I still expect the same things.

Good post. Let’s assume Dak’s the QB. I think the talent is there. My way too early read on the schedule sees Dallas as an underdog in 5 games now. I think winning the division and a home playoff game is a fair goal. It will take more than one offseason to remove the Garrett taint and no accountability culture.

My minimum goal is improvement. I want to see us getting better and becoming a football team, as opposed to scattershot talent thrown together w/ a prayer. Take care of that, and the winning will take care of itself.
