IMO 4 years is the best length. It ties him to McCarthy. Mcarthy signed a 5 year deal. If he isnt working out he will likely be let go in 4. At that point you are likely rebuilding

if Dak holds put Dalton will start but hes not the starter..not sure why you ask, 99% sure Dak isnt leaving 31mil on the table , he will report late right before the season starts...

Fair shake at the backup? yes

I dont think there is a scenario the team is looking at that doesnt have Dak starting at QB. Wether thats on a 4 or 5 yr deal or on the franchise tag Dak will sign.

Well probably not, but it would not hurt anything.
If Dalton looked way better in TC and PS, why not start him? or at least play him.
and if Dak is so good, should he not be able to win any competition easily??

I was a romo fan , but always felt like competition, real competition would have made tony play better.
When you let someone know the job is theirs automatically no matter how good some others are, they will not be the best they can be.

The notion that there's a QB competition for the starting job is fantasy, with the emphasis on fan. He wasn't signed to compete for the starting job and he knows it.

Listen to what he's been saying rather than what some numb nuts on this board have been saying. There's no "fair shake" to give him. He's the back up QB.
