FO needs to reassess any hints it made to Dalton about leading this team

I don't know of any, I said Dak was the starting QB, Dalton is here for backup role and he knows it. Some fans here do not seem to grasp it.

Only way Dalton sees playing field will be Dak getting injured or his play falls off so bad that coaches feel the need to make a change, I don't suspect that will happen.

I was asking the question around this statement.

"Dalton signed a 1 year 3 million dollar deal, I think he is smart enough to know that is low end backup QB money."

I don't really think that Dalton's deal is low end money for a backup. I mean, it's actually 3 mil if he doesn't play but it's 7 if he does. I honestly don't know where that fits with regards to what backup QBs are making, which is why I asked the question.

Nice comeback? I guess your only defense is reducing someone down to their avatar by making regressive generalizations and attempting to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
Identity profile shallow recognition?

I just say he is making less than guys like AJ McCarron and much less than Taysom Hill which is around 8 mill. I think as a vet QB 3 mill is not a big contract in the least others are paid less yet have little to no experience.

...Or about giving Dalton every chance to compete.

Why?

Because, stout men and ankle-twisting women, the moment Jerry signs Dak via new offer or tag,
does anybody think Jerry would give the job to Dalton and leave his $30 million QB on the sidelines?

Dalton was promised a bill of goods.

Avoid this dilemma, blokes. Jerry, trade Dak while you can. Save a lot of money and rebuild the defense!I
If not you have to sit down with Dak again.

You're making a very big assumption here. The facts are the Cowboys have offered Dak a 1 year deal. Nothing more. Anything offered under the Garrett era is now ancient history.

GM 101 says you dont sign a QB to a mega long term deal when (1) you dont need to AND (2) you've a new HC/system and the QB has not played in a similar system to the one you intend to use. To offer Dak a long term deal now would be very unusual in these circumstances. The logical and safest option is to see how the QB performs in the new system.

The assumption has to be that we have 2 x vet QBs, both new to the system and both on 1 year deals.

You are trying to reach a logical consensus with a troll.

Dalton has already spoken on the subject and stated it is is Dak's job and he is here this year during COVID but will seek a starting job NEXT year.
The entire OP was typical nonsense spewed by a troll.

Speaking of which. I understand you spend a lot of time in the Eagles and Patriots team forums.
YOu, a troll, should know better than to do that then come here, matey.

For those with panties in a twist, re-read the post.
:)
It mentions "any hints" to Dalton. As in "if."
Also "Or about giving Dalton any chance to compete."
Now, for all your rushing around in hysteria and colliding with your thoughts and inside information, the post only stated the FO needs to reassess "any" assurances, if made, to avoid a disgruntled Dak or Dalton. Over expectations, if any, if Dak is tagged and Dalton is not given a chance, if any was offered.

You Hysteria Hatties really need a cause to denigrate, I know. Just learn to read, comprehend and evaluate.
If you resort to immediate condemnation. Or want posts in legalese to appease your pedantic minds, TELL IT TO THE MARINES!o_O

Seems pretty clear to me that when I said "exactly", I was expressing my belief that the poster I quoted had it right. As for the source of the information, Dalton himself has said he is only on the team to be Dak's backup and to play only if Dak isn't available for some reason. I'll bet you dollars to donuts I could find quotes from Stephen or Jerry saying the same thing.

I'm wondering why that would sound made up anyway. Why would it seem odd that the $30-35 million dollar a year QB would be the starter and the $3-7 million QB on a one year contract would be the backup? Of course Dak isn't signed yet, but logic dictates if he is he will be the starter, and logic also dictates that the team wouldn't promise Dalton a chance to start over a $30-35 million/year guy.

The logic of the money thing seems to make sense...although he's not been paid one dime of this alleged 30+ million yet...so a tad bit presumptuous.

The logic of using your beliefs to admonish others for theirs....is problematic to me. People on both sides very sure they know the private conversations....and fighting about it? Odd.

I wouldn't really put all my money of Dalton's comments. The New Guy Principle.

Know this...I am not saying either way. I only hope that every position has the best player at the top...regardless of who it is. I am simple like that.

Who is we?
Really? Rebuilt the defense?
You going on record as convinced that our rebuilt defence is better?
Charming.
I buy cowboy Paraphernalia. Therefore I’m part of the team we. Yes we just Rebuilt rebuilt a defense of line with rotation. We just have Safety. Great draft with cornerback. Linebackers a solid what’s your problem

So your assessment is the D is ready and playoff material?
Check with me at the end of the season, if there is one.
