Does Anae have the chance to be our TJ Watt?

I have to admit, it's funny watching people downplay how good Watt is................ I guess it's because they struggle to admit we screwed up that pick.

He's a technician. And sometimes, those kind of guys make it but often times their lack of athleticism just limits their ceiling regardless of how good they are technique wise.

If he develops into a decent 2nd DE type that can just give you solid play in a pinch, that would be a big win. I think expecting he's going to be more than that is just "COWBOYZ!!!!" mentality at work.

I think his 10-yard split and 20-yard split are on par with a lot of DEs, but otherwise ... yeah.

He had a 1.69 10-yard (compared to 1.59 for Watt) and both had a 2.71 20-yard. Jared Allen had a 1.68 and 2.74. ... If Anae's career can turn out nearly as good as his, then he'd be a great pick.

I don't know what level he'll ever reach in the NFL. It's all about how players transition and how the coaches choose to use their skill set. Watt has a larger skill set, but man Anae put up some eye popping #s and right out of the gate. He had 30 sacks, 41.5 tackles for loss, and 6 forced fumbles for his career at Utah. I don't care what conference you're playing in those are impressive #s and all he did was get better every year. I think he has a chance to take Armstrong's or Jackson's jobs.

I don't know anything about him other than what the scouts have made public which is all good. They seem very proud of themselves for having identified him to the FO as a draft worthy talent. Even to this day, I get word from them (Bucky Brooks) how excited they are to have him on the team.

It is pretty unfair to expect him to perform at a level of a first rounder.

If he can contribute in a sub-rusher role, pick up 4-5 situational sacks in a season, Anae is a steal.

It's probably more realistic (yet still extremely hopeful) that Anae (drafted 179th in 2020) can be our Maxx Crosby (drafted 106th overall in 2019).

Its a league which values athleticism and for good reason too,there are a few outliers who bock their average Combine performance to be successful but the are few and far.

You ever notice that if you don't let the taco meat cool down before placing it in the shell, that the taco will just split in half when you pick it up?
I know, strange question, but came to mind and some others might have experienced the same.
I suffer some serious taco rage when that happens.
