Heres some perspective...from the 1977 season until that of 1992 was 15 years. We at least made the NFC title game in three of those years, and five playoff appearances otherwise.

If that was a drought, what exactly are we in now??

I mean, its somewhat rhetorical, since the answer is we are watching Jerry play with his toy. Pretty sad looking at it that way.
Damn. Now I'm depressed.

I’ve only seen 5 Cowboys games in person and SB XXVII was one of them. I lived in Pasadena at the time, approximately 3 miles from the Rose Bowl. I went to the stadium with a buddy without any tickets but with $5,000 cash in my pocket and a $12,000 Rolex. I was determined to get a ticket. I didn’t care where the seats were located I just wanted to get in the stadium. I knew there would be scalpers all over the place. I knew the closer we got to kick off the more their prices would come down. I spent about 30 minutes doing some negotiating. Found a drip that had a cigar box full of tickets. Got a couple of 10 yard line seats, upper deck for $3500. I would’ve paid the same amount for end zone seats I was so desperate. My butterflies had butterflies when I walked into the stadium. I had never been that nervous watching a Cowboys game in my entire life!

Spending over 3 grand on a couple of average seats added to the tension. I literally almost threw up before kick off I was so damn nervous. Had the Cowboys lost I may have swan dived off the top of the stadium into the parking lot. I would have completely lost my will to live. I can’t even begin to describe how overcome with joy I was when they won the game, especially how dominating they were. I actually had tears in my eyes. It was like everything I had ever dreamed of my entire life as a Cowboys fan and it was staring me right in the face. I never just dreamed of watching the Cowboys win a Super Bowl in person, I dreamed of them kicking butt doing it. How sweet it was! :yourock:

The goal line stand early in the game had me in knots. Ken Norton slammed that door closed. The rest of the game was simply marvelous.

Poor Bills. As someone who's lived in western NY a while, I do have a soft spot for them.

My ideal 1990s would have been:

  • Norwood makes that field goal, Bills beat Giants 22-20
  • Bills pull off underdog upset a year later, beat Commanders
  • Bills lose in 1992 and 1993 to the Cowboys as they did in real life

So it gives Buffalo 2 Super Bowl rings, while also denying the Giants and Skins each one ring.

I know man I had to bring you with me lol. Sorry.

It's funny how much of our lives Jerry can waste and we cant do a thing about it except take away what we dont want to go away.

The future feels ok though. It really does. Maybe I'm Charlie Brown again, I dont know. No other real choice.

Yeah like the Pats vs NFC East in SBs

Four times I root for that team and they blew it in three of them.

That's why you have to do things like that.

You'll make more green paper, but you'll never be able to buy that experience.

1st td by novachek who rarely is mentioned but was a key player.
defense scores 2nd td to put dallas in the lead. and later scores another td and set up numerous short tds, for the offense.

Great defense is what that team had, and that is why they dominated and won 2 sb's

For a diehard Cowboys fan that experience was priceless. Only here would I ever say what I spent on those tickets or what I was willing to spend because anywhere else people would think I’m crazy. Only a diehard fan would understand.

That's 100% true.

I went to 27 and 30 and I'll never go again. Of course Jerry is making that decision much easier, but it's now turned into something that's just way off the map affordability wise.

I would rather do an NFC championship game at home than a SB at this point regardless of cost.

Two one seeds in recent memory would have figured to have gotten me there.

Yeah anyway Jerry. Your toy, your way. Thanks.

And taking inflation into account, that would have been like $7,000 in today's money. But you made it worth every penny.

I'm betting that had you been present in person for SBXXX instead though, you'd have been puking in terror and nervousness until Larry Brown's 2nd INT.

Had this and all of the playoffs/SBs from this era on VCR - probably disintegrated by now - glad they're on Youtube.

I still find it bittersweet watching these old games.
VHS? I have them on VHS it will take about another 50 years to become unplayable, minimum

Yeah, I may have suffered a heart attack watching SB XXX in person. My heart was racing a mile a minute in my living room watching the final minutes of that game. I never relaxed until Alvin Harper scored that last TD and spiked it over the goal post in Super Bowl XXVII. I kept thinking about that unbelievable comeback the Bills had against the Oilers in the playoffs.

I had them on VCR too. I remember leaving the Cowboys Super Bowl 27 in my VCR and forgot that I had set my VCR to tape "Rock."

It taped over the halftime show and most of the third quarter. I hate it because I wanted to keep the Michael Jackson halftime show and Jimmy Johnson's comments from halftime when Todd Christensen asked Johnson to remember what Buffalo did to Houston in a comeback win. Johnson simply says, as Christensen tells it, "We're not Houston."

Man, I wish we had a coach as brash as Jimmy. There won't be another like him.
