Since we are keeping it real...

This elite team was 4-12 the year before. You are still not acknowledging the impact of coaching. Also Dak was a 4th round pick. You guys remember that?

Well..since I didn't argue your coaching point...wouldn't that be a clue?

So your saying this was not a good offense Dak stepped into? Which by corollary would mean you feel Dak is fully responsible by himself for 13-3. I just want to be clear. If that's the case...further argument is futile.

Went from 4-12 to 13-3 with a subpar coaching staff and a worse defense than in 2015. Really makes you think.

Him saying a 4-12 team is an elite roster? What a clown statement lol

You can address me directly.

So...I ask YOU the same question. Surrounded by 4 #1 picks (pro bowlers to boot) on offense isn't "elite"? So you TOO are saying it was a sheety team and Dak did the 13-3 thing all on his own? And you call me the clown?

Exactly. Nothing elite about the Cowboys in a long time. Elite teams win playoff games.

Imagine someone laying out facts and analytics just for ppl to say he's forming an opinion because he likes the guy. :banghead:

Imagine watching a team fail to score a TD in three games, fail to beat a winning team all season except for Philly, play horribly at Philly in the most important game of the season, and fail to make the playoffs in the easiest division the NFL has seen in 10 years.

All that with some of the best offensive personnel in the NFL.

And still thinking Dak Prescott is an elite quarterback.

He's the definition of average.

Imagine crying about an offense that averaged a 5th best 3 tds a game. And was 4th in overall efficiency. Even with an average rushing attack and league high in drops.

Imagine believing touchdowns after falling down 31-3 matters. 8-8 in the worst division in football. Game after game of struggling offense.

Take out the two Giants games. Take out the Dolphins game. Take out the Commanders games, one of which was meaningless at the end. Those teams were gawd awful.

Dak led us to a whopping 3-8 record against the rest.

Did you know Dak has a better record against winning teams than Romo. Imagine blaming an offense for the defense giving up 31 points in 5 drives

Having high school level coaching will do that.

This article is one of the best thought out arguments re: Dak. It's funny looking at this thread and seeing who hasn't bothered to read it and just keeps spewing the same opinion they've posted for months.

Evidence? I don't need no stinkin' evidence!

Even funnier are grown men who call themselves football fans yet they simplistically break down games like my grandmother. It's as if they just started following the sport last year. :muttley:

1. Anyone could win with Dak Prescott's supporting cast. This is going overboard and nobody says this. What people do say is there are many other starters that could do as well or better. And that’s not a ridiculous statement.

2. Ezekiel Elliott carries Dak Prescott. I guess this is in regard to the bus driver talk, which in my mind means if the running game gets shut down the Cowboys can’t ride Dak’s arm to victory on a week in and week out basis. Again, that doesn’t seem to be a ridiculous statement.

3. Dak Prescott disappears in the clutch. This doesn’t seem like a common criticism. What I see more than anything is criticism that Dak struggles in the first 3 quarters, digs a hole, and then has to come back. It’s almost like he performs much better in the clutch than he does the early going.

4. Dak Prescott pads his stats in garbage time. That definitely happened in 2019.

5. Dak Prescott isn't an elite passer. Well, I don’t think that’s a ridiculous statement.

6. Dak Prescott hasn't won a Super Bowl/isn't the best QB in the league so he can't be the highest paid. There’s a difference between can’t be and shouldn’t be.

7. Dak Prescott is to blame for his receivers' drops. His receivers let him down for sure. But I did see some drops where I thought it was a tough ball to catch but that happens.

8. Dak Prescott doesn't beat good teams/win big games. Until 2019 this wasn’t true. Last year I felt like there were big games against playoff caliber teams where he didn’t play well.

9. "My eyes tell me" He does have issues with fundamentals. Fundamentals aren’t everything and you can be a great QB without being perfect in that regard but those are definitely visible to those that know football.

Overall I think it’s a case of someone making over the top straw man arguments instead of really wanting to debate the points about Dak. There are certainly people who are over the top in their criticism of Dak and those over the top with their praise. The truth is in the middle and it isn’t a slam dunk that we know for sure just what Dak is and will be.

Weak argument

Being outplayed by Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, and Mitch Trubisky will do that

See how that works
There's nothing weak about it.

You have no objective numbers to support your position. Almost all the numbers prove you to be wrong.

All you have is your "eye test". Which counts for exactly zero.

And the Saints, Jets, Bills and Bears all had far superior defenses than what they faced when they played the Cowboys.

But I do recognize that Dak still needs work. He needs to be better. My only argument is that he's not the useless scrub you and others think he is. You have zero facts or objective stats to support that position.

You want to get something straight? Get this straight, I'm not five. I don't do "Dak Hater" BS. Try again or don't, I don't care but don't try and enlist me in your little diatribe here. Get that straight.

You HAVE softened your stance on Dak from the past. Glad to see it. You used to be a hater.

You are either one of the smarter ones that sees the writing on the wall, or you truly believe Dak is better.

Which is it?

And having them try to convenience us he's worth a franchise QB contract......

This is a good point. So far...most people have been talking about why Dak should do this or that or why he isn't.

What about the Cowboys? If he's the QB of our future....why not give him what he wants? Some have mentioned the 5 year thing...I think that's pretty weak *if* it's your super star QB of the future.

I applaud the Cowboys for not just giving in an at least attempting to get 5 years. Even though we know they will cave when push comes to shove.

Bobby Belt has written a long essay debunking a lot of the claims people make about Dak Prescott to discredit him.

1. Anyone could win with Dak Prescott's supporting cast.
2. Ezekiel Elliott carries Dak Prescott.
3. Dak Prescott disappears in the clutch.
4. Dak Prescott pads his stats in garbage time.
5. Dak Prescott isn't an elite passer.
6. Dak Prescott hasn't won a Super Bowl/isn't the best QB in the league so he can't be the highest paid.
7. Dak Prescott is to blame for his receivers' drops.
8. Dak Prescott doesn't beat good teams/win big games.
9. "My eyes tell me"

Belt provides evidence to counter each of these claims. Great info regardless of how you currently feel about Dak.

Where y’all at? Where y’all at! It’s Dak or it’s whack!
