Ron'Dell Carter for me

I would've picked this guy too, if he was on the list.
Same school as the the rookie QB. ("Nooch")

I went with Bernard, with the thinking that he will be a ST ace and
may make it on the field in some defensive packages.

Pulling for Carter as well. Good mention.

I think MM and new coaches had the positive effect on this draft, and no one is giving them any credit.
I find it a little odd that as soon as MM is hired and new staff, all of a sudden dallas has the A+ draft.
coincidence?? I dont think so.

For once since Jimmy left, the wannabe GM’s fingerprints were nowhere on this draft.

You don’t think Jerry still has final approval of every draft pick?

I agree Jerry has been a problem too often, but it’s not as if he isn’t still involved. And it’s not as if this is the only good draft since Jimmy.

Jerry listens to the people around him.

The worst of times were when it was Larry Lacewell that Jerry listened to the most.

Now Stephen Jones has surrounded Jerry with "Stephen's Guys".
- It is obvious that Stephen Jones pushed Garrett out. Jerry would have have just kept Garrett.
- It is obvious that McCarty had spent a lot of time meeting with Stephen (McCarty references Stephen when discussing details the way Wade/Campo referenced Jerry.).

In 2020 if Jerry questions any employee about their opinion on players, it's going to coincide with Stephen's opinion...

I don't know that we should be excited about Stephen being the authority on player personnel, but I do agree that it feels like Jerry has less input.

The draft was so different, that I think it was mike making the picks, and he let jerry and his boy have the credit.

The Practice Squad size will expand to 12 starting in 2020 (It was 10).
- In 2022 it will expand to 14.

It's not a true 55 man roster in terms of players being "protected".
  • They can promote 2 practice squad players without having to cut somebody on the 53.
    • Those players are still on the practice squad which means another team could sign them to the their 53.
    • The promoted players don't have to go through the waiver process but that does not really mean much.
      • Normally when PS player is promoted and then sent back to the PS he has to go through waivers.
      • When he clears waivers he has the option to sign with a different team's practice squad.
      • Without having to go through the waiver process those PS players don't have the option to sign with another team's PS.
      • It's somewhat rare for a player that has been promoted and then sent back to the PS to want to sign with another team's PS anyway.
      • The rule that allows for avoiding waivers is limited to 2 moves up/down per specific player.
The game day roster size expands from 46 to 48.
- 1 of the 2 additional players must be an 8th OL (i.e. Team's can not have only 7 OL active and have 48 players active).
- Most teams would likely have the 8th OL active anyway with 48 players active.
- In the past with 46 players active teams preferred to only carry 7 OL but often had to carry 8 if any starters were dealing with injury issues prior to the game.
So unless they are hit with injuries, it's likely those two active practice squad players are playing STs.

2-3 make the final roster. PS will be loaded with these guys. Watching preseason games will be interesting this year.

yeh i can see some of these cats ending up on the practice squad, too. If Bernard's instincts and knack for sniffing out developing plays are as keen as advertised, he could be zack thomas like.

Luther Kirk the safety out of IIIinois State was east west shrine MVP with two INT picks, and has versatility
to play both SS and FS.

this is the first time i can remember being this impress and excited about undrafted rookie potential. Most of these are guys that were still on the Cowboys draft board and the team did not settle for it's usual no-names " who?" , unheralded calling card, trying to get another cheap bargain.
These were guys i could see well into most NFL draft publications.
