Could this rookie leap right to the starting lineup?

I'm guess 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
imagine what the d-backs could do if the front seven provided a rush. so much to be optimistic about this season. I hate viruses. how can something that's not even alive cause so much trouble?

The one thing that's not a secret is these D rooks are going to have to produce, at least in rotation, or the D could actually regress with the two best players from last season gone and it's unknown if their production has been replaced.

For me, cornerback and center are the two battles that I'm really interested in seeing this training camp, that and the battle for the third quarterback position, crazy as it sounds. I really want to see DiNucci play.

As for cornerback, almost anyone on the roster could start at this point. I think we're all assuming that Awuzie is moving to safety. Diggs is intriguing because he was a wide receiver and he tracks the ball like one, I think he can be a turnover machine. However he's still somewhat new to the position so he could cost us some big plays if they throw him into the fire too early.

You're way behind the times 'dog.
"The future is now" has been the mantra across the NFL for quite some time now.

(Or maybe you were being sarcastic and forgot to let us in on it... lol)
You gotta be on your toes around here, right? :)

I don't see Anae starting but I could definitely see him as the defensive version of Marion Barber III early on. A guy that plays great in a limited role, not a starter but a guy who makes plays and becomes a big fan favorite.

If he can come in and produce in a pass rushing role great. As long as he can contribute to the team that is what matters most to me.

Comes down to whether someone can replace Jones. Haha is an obvious upgrade in coverage over Heath, and we should be fine at #2 CB, whomever wins it. So it comes down to whether we have a #1 CB on the roster. Hopefully, Diggs can win it out of the gate.

Even if he isn't quite as good in coverage but has 2 or 3 picks, that would work nicely.

I have no doubt that Diggs will be starting. Our pass rush this year should also help dramatically. Higher risk, higher burn rate with Nolans defense.

I look to mid-season at the earliest. Too many veterans and not enough practice vs pro WRs atm.

It may take him a while to adjust to pro ball but the talent is there for adjustments to be made as experience allows. Maybe the INTs would help.

I hope we are patient in the meantime. I saw where he has to make up space in coverage in some of his videos. He has catchup speed, though.

They are very alive.

We are all learning about them now.

Yep.

Would be shocking if a first round prospect started, never happens.

The way I see it:

Lamb: Day 1 starter. No question.

Diggs: With the hole we have at outside CB and Diggs' polish, he should be starting Day 1. Will have to beat out Canady in camp, which shouldn't be too hard. Brown will play the slot, Lewis isn't a guy you want starting outside in a man-heavy scheme.

Gallimore: Will compete with Trysten Hill for the 3rd DT role. His snaps will depend on Hill's effort level. If Hill is as lackadaisical this year as he was in 2019, Gallimore should win the role in a cinch, but I think Hill has more talent than he's so far shown too.

Robinson: Special teamer, probably will be groomed at safety.

Biadasz: Got watching some tape of him today just for kicks, and I wasn't very impressed. Raequan Williams of Michigan State was consistently punching Biadasz back on drive blocks, and he was a UDFA signed by the Eagles. Davon Hamilton smoked him on a couple reps vs Ohio State. Biadasz is good at pulling, but you can see him struggle with lateral agility on climb blocks and he can get knocked back in strength-on-strength brawls. Those hip and shoulder injuries were absolutely slowing him. Now in 2018 he looked like a 1st round pick, so there's no doubt the talent is there, but it all depends on how healthy he is. Given that he fell to the end of the 4th, I'm guessing the answer is "not enough to be ready for Day 1."

Anae: Looks like just a guy to me. I think he fights with Joe Jackson and Jelks to make the final roster.

DiNucci: practice squad stash.

This is a better assessment of the class then I’ve seen from most journalists.

I agree on all fronts. I know people loved Anae because of the value there but I don’t think he’s anything special. I don’t think he makes the team.

I think that Robinson stays at corner even though he can play safety. Awuzie and Lewis are both gone after this year.

Can this Dallas Cowboys’ rookie outperform several veterans to earn a starting role in 2020?

The Dallas Cowboys came away with a top-rated draft class this year, seemingly getting great value with nearly every single selection. Yet, it’s unclear if any of these rookies outside of first-round wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will secure a starting role in 2020.

There are some rookies who could emerge this summer as potential starters at some point this upcoming season. The obvious choice might be fourth-round rookie center Tyler Biadasz due to the recent retirement of All-Pro starter, Travis Frederick.

A sleeper might be fifth-round selection Bradlee Anae. The young pass rusher out of Utah could surprise as a starter at defensive end. With Aldon Smith not having played football since 2015 and Tyrone Crawford coming off double hip surgery, there may be a window for the talented Anae to impress new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and earn an early starting nod.

But the rookie the Cowboys might need to earn a starting role more than any other is Trevon Diggs. With the loss of Pro Bowl cornerback Byron Jones this offseason, Dallas has a major void to fill in their secondary. But the Cowboys also have plenty of veteran candidates to fill that role between Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, Daryl Worley, Maurice Canady, Anthony Brown, and others.

Quick maturation for Diggs best-case scenario for the Dallas Cowboys
But the Cowboys landed Diggs in the second round and have clearly earmarked him for a starting role at some point. If the rookie out of Alabama is able to outplay the veteran cornerbacks on the roster for a starting role this summer, that would be the best-case scenario for Dallas.

I was one of Diggs biggest fans heading into the draft, but I will readily concede that his overall game still needs work. I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if he's one of our starting corners at the beginning of the year. I think Worley is our bridge player until Diggs is ready.

Would be nice to see any or all of our rookies earn a starting spot.

I see potential for Lamb to start because it would give us 3 great WR but let’s first see if his skill set will translate to the NFL, a WR has to be pretty dang good to come straight in and play at a high level.

The center will have some talent to beat out to get a starting job but hear good things about him.

Our CB will likely be the one that gets the start because we lost Jones. And CB can come in and play at a high level in the pros. When we drafted Jones he came right in and was a stand out at CB and Safety. Was runner up for defensive rookie of the year.

The signing of Worley indicates the coaching staff isn't thrilled with our current CBs. I expect Diggs to start this year. The first game if he has a good camp. He's the future, and our current CBs are the past.

Wasn't Beard and Martin 1st Rd for us? Zeke? Cooper?

Or do you mean just Cee Dee will not start?

I believe he will and probably kill it.

Not sure what you meant.

Show me.

Just like me, many of you made bold predictions for Morris Claiborne. Remember how that turned out?

Besides, I've already picked my starting rookie, that's right, it's our 7th round choice Quarterback Ben DiNucci!

;)
