With a player as talented as Amari Cooper. If the staff can't "reach" him. They aren't good coaches. That's what coaches are supposed to do is motivate the players and get the most out of them.
Amari does not strike me as being a guy who does not think before answering.

Meaning he must have an answer as to why.

Has anybody asked him?

No.

Why not?

Ask the dude.

I am anxious to see all of them with a serious NFL head coach for the first time in their careers. Someone that has the ability to make a half time change.. last year was incredible, 8-0 when leading at the half and 0-8 when trailing, it's never been easier to see the inability to make an adjustment.

Come on, we all know you cant make a half time adjustment. The red-headed stepchild told us so.........

Teams can't make many adjustment at half-time, they do not have the time in less than 15 min. I will say adjustment should be taking place through out the game as offense comes off the field the OC can make or should make adjustment based on things that are working and things they are struggling with. Position coaches are normally taking to their groups when player get to the sidelines. You are not going to change the entire game plan however in 10 min which is about the time they are in the locker room

I think Cooper is misunderstood. Just because he's a quiet person a lot of fans probably think he lacks passion or that he's a pouter.

The fact is he started every game last season despite a list of lower body injuries that started in camp and went on all season. This guy's a gamer and has stated many times how much he loves playing for the Cowboys. In fact he gave up more money from the Commanders just to stay here.

And the Cowboys did not draft Lamb to send a message to Cooper. Lamb was the best player available, simple as that.

We have all seen that Cooper is a totally different player in home games, compared to the one's on the road. One can argue that when he's plays in Dallas, he is a legitimate #1 WR, but on the road he flat out disappears.

What is the cause of this? Is he a mentally weak player? Does he lose focus? Does he give less effort if not apart of the game early on? What was the reason he was benched in the most important game last season in Philadelphia? All legitimate questions.

The Cowboys in essence resigned Cooper to a 2 year extension. The new staff has 2 years to figure out the issues with him or be forced to release him. This is kind of crazy to envision when he plays so well at home, but if they cannot rely on him in big moments on the road, might as well find someone else who can.

Low Yardage Cooper Games
0 - NE - Crappy conditions, and Belichick.
3 - Jets - I don't think he played the full first drive.
19 - LAR - Zeke and Pollard combined for 300 yards from scrimmage. We won +23. Why bother throwing? Dak only *attempted* 8 passes to WRs, 2 to Cooper.
28 - PH2 - Dak couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
38 - DET - Looks like a crappy game for Cooper, in a Dome, only caught 3 of 8. But a win.
44 - WA - Quiet game, another win, Cooper caught 4 of 5.
48 - NO - We were just really dumb. When we passed on 1st down it was working, and when we ran it didn't. Naturally, we kept running.

I'd throw out the Jets, LAR, PH2 at least.
You can look at aggregate stats, but sometimes the details tell a different story.

Given the opportunity I think Gallup could be our best WR this season.

I disagree. Watch Belichek go in front of his defense during a game. He makes changes that inevitably results in a change in their approach and attitude.

If I was in charge, our receiving core in 2022 would be much more likely to be Lamb/Gallup than Cooper/Lamb.

Jon Gruden knows football players, he traded Cooper for a reason. Oakland didnt have much of a receiving core and to trade him says something to me.
"Reach out and touch, Amari's hand, make the road a better place. if you can.."
"Reach out and touch, Amari's hand, if he cant do it, ...Pack his Van"
Gruden traded him because he was piling up first round picks so he could rebuild his team. We will see how that works out this year.

I'm not sure what the home/road splits mean, but I personally dont think he gives a crap if the team wins, loses or ties.

Put him on a polygraph and ask about how important a championship is. I know where I'd place my wagers.

Now, most teams are going to have these types, but I think we either collected too many of them, or some were conditioned to accept losing because they didnt believe in the staff.
Which made one of my primary concerns before the draft the WR position given I didn’t have a lot of trust in him playing hard after the big contract. With CeeDee I’m not worried.

I'm hoping the whole slot thing helps him thrive.

He seems like a bit of a frontrunner....when the offense is clicking he will be around for the knockout punch. He seems to sulk a bit when things are down.

Either way, I'm not a fan of the dude but he is on my team and I'm all about rooting for him to be as good as he can be for now.

Cooper gets such a bum rap. All the dude does is put his head down and deliver. I love the guy.

---------Is he a mentally weak player?

Maybe. Up front we were told that he really isn't all that into his profession....I've noticed that constantly in both his play and sideline demeanor since he has been here...something about him really bothers me. We should have let him walk.

Am I missing something? Cooper isn't a diva or a bad actor. I am assuming the coaching staff was all onboard with re-signing him.

He's one of the best route runners the game has seen in many years and yep, he's had the dropsies several times in his career but when he's on, he's as much a handful as there is in the league.

No, he's not, the problem is he's on the other extreme side of this. He just doesn't give a crap.
