I know this has been discussed before but why has he not been asked to told to take a paycut.

His 9 million cap hit is much too high and has never produced at a level where he deserved that.

What makes the front office think he will this year.

At the very least he should take a 2.5 million pay cut.

With having to extend Dak, the front office needs to save anyway they can.

The real answer is they value him and want him on the team. Not the first whiff on a talent evaluation by the two running this team, nor the last.

If they didn't want him on the team at all they would have cut him already, so they definitely want him.

If you're the team and want him, but want him at a reduced rate, why approach him now, when he has plenty of time to say no and find work elsewhere?

Theres a much better chance of him agreeing to that in early September.

Also, you wait to see what happens in camp. Maybe theres a ton of injuries and you need the guy.

And they dont need the cap space. If anything, Prescotts cap number will reduce from the tag figure once signed long term.

You're just bored and/or dont like him and want him gone now. I know how you feel. Theres 3/4 guys I cannot stand on this team and I gotta deal with it.

Meanwhile you and Stash will get along fine!!

Because if you're going to ask a player who signed that contract to take a pay cut because he's not playing "up to the contract" then you can't refuse to pay a player more money who signed that contract when he's playing above that contract.

Because when a team asks for a paycut in the offseason, the agent is going to ask for guaranteed money for this season. They may want to see what they have in camp before they make that kind of decision.

This. Crawford said he would take a pay cut months ago. They probably want to see that he is healthy and needed before giving him some guaranteed money for the season.

I'm curious to see what Tyrone can do after having both his hips operated on. That had to be hard to recover from. I'm rooting for him to do well.

There’s no need to rush into things. Why not wait until the end of training camp. By then you know where Crawford’s level is at and what else we have at RDE.

  1. Because we don’t need the money. We have plenty of cap space with the team pretty much set for 2020.
  2. Because he is still one of our better D-linemen. He will either start at RDE or be in the regular rotation.
  3. The Cowboys gave him the contract. We don’t like players who don’t honor their contracts, so why is it okay for the team to want to cut a player’s contract when we are already under the cap?
Most won’t agree, but Crawford’s salary will have no impact on our team this year, so just drop it.
