If Dak ended up getting drafted by one of the teams with an established QB, he would be just hoping for a near minimum deal to stay in the NFL after having rarely played. The fact that he got drafted by Dallas and then the team sat a healthy Romo just to keep things the same is something a lot of teams wouldn't have done. Hell, most teams would have had a quality back up behind Romo to start with and not trusted a mid round rookie.

Dak should give Garrett a cut of his next deal because without him, Dak wouldn't have even got the chance that he had.

The cowboys absolutely wasted his rookie contract. The cowboys had probably the best bang for the buck QB play wise in the entire league and Garrett and company flushed it down the toilet.

All that being said. No the cowboys don’t owe Dak, back pay. Lol Irvin’s out of pocket on that one.

Dak only got his chance to play because our backup QB broke his ankle. I was all in on the let Romo start train, but understood why they left Dak in. Heck we went 13-3.

Moore got injured a few days into training camp. Dak could have won the back up role by the end of camp, especially considering how well he played in the preseason games. We will never know but it’s not like Moore was the back up near the end of camp.

Michael Irvin says Cowboys owe Dak Prescott 'back pay' for 'stealing' four years of his career

In other words, Irvin is firmly of the belief that Dallas needs to pony up the dough.

Michael, did you pay taxes on the stash found in a motel room with your pals?
What became of that?
Or the dumpster driving search to find a disposal for a ... drug pipe?
Shut up, you without sin!
You are no contract specialist.

Total B'S that's the way the NFL Operates in the collective bargaining. Their first contract is lower and usually a 2nd or 3rd is higher. Irvin it's today's NFL.

In other words, Irvin is firmly of the belief that Dallas needs to pony up the dough.

agree on all! Prescott wasn’t the only thing JG wasted....
Dak has more than made up for lesser salary with endorsements that came exclusively bc he is a Cowboy plus lower taxes by being a Texan.
Additionally, if this is now you’re standard then players should be on sliding salaries with performance metrics. Only fair.
Players sign big contracts and don’t perform,,,,then they give some back....based on Irvin’s logic that’s the only way what he is espousing could make any sense...

This has seemed to be the mindset that Dak has had from the get-go when it comes to a new contract that has been annoying. Entitlement.... Cowboys dont owe him for what he didnt do in college to get drafted higher, nor would he be getting a 2nd contract in this range had he not played as much as he did. Most 4th round QBs will never sign a 2nd contract that averages 30-34 million a year and he acts like its not enough...
