There has been alot of speculation about Awuzie since the draft and post draft, where we have added 3 CB's. Coupled that with the talk of playing CB's at Safety, and its left alot of us wondering what the plan with Awuzie is.

What would your plan for Awuzie be, both now and for the future?

Well I've been told here he is an outstanding corner.

You typically hear teams moving their top corners to safety, and using two of their top four draft choices on corners.

They seem quite happy with him, and negotiations for that second deal should get underway any time now.

im a fan of the player.
he's shown he is more than capable of playing well...he needs to be more consistent.
i'd like to see him and Trevon Diggs as our CBs 1 and 2 with Jourdan Lewis in the slot.

of the CBs who could slide over to S i think Awuzie and rookie Reggie Robinson could do it.
Donovan Wilson tho could have something to say about that.

but I'd prefer to see #24 at CB playin' like he did in '18....i think he's better than some think.
he's shown it.

He got off to a good start, but didn't progress. Was that his fault? Or poor coaching?

Probably a bit a both. It's pretty hard to get better when you have the clown show running the circus last year.

Let's see how he reacts to new coaching. Then decide what the future holds.

Jones and Awuzie had a lot in common, both were required to play on an island.
No pass rush help, no safety help.
The only difference between the two was Byrons term, he was a FA that other teams recognized as very athletic DB.
Too much money to keep considering the rebuild in that area of the defense.
Awuzie can be a very good DB if he has the necessary supporting cast,, evaluating a DB is tricky business,, and why Jones was top DB FA this year.

I guess at Philly last year was just an off day. Maybe he just wasnt up for the occasion.

It sure seemed for a while there when a team needed to convert a third down they would simply look for 24 and move em every time.

This is almost like the Prescott debate on a smaller scale.

Like it or not, he is the QB for at least the next four years.

Like it or not, #24 is on his way out of Dallas. That cant be more clear.

I think it's more than likely that he won't return. But I don't agree that there is no chance he doesn't come back.

I hope he's left his true position CB and let him prove himself to the new coaching staff. He shouldn't be penalized by his play under a horrible inept prior system coached by highly incompetent coaches.
If he cant win the starting job, so be it. But don't penalize the guy by moving him to a new position.

He's not as bad as he has looked. A lot of it, I think was scheme. There was a video from someone breaking down his responsibilities on various plays and he was barely responsible for covering multiple people on his side of the field with Jeff "I only show up after the play is over" Heath. New scheme should equal a better player. Or they may move him to safety. As long as the defense plays better.

I like the idea of him moving around. Play him on the boundary and the slot. Throw him out at S in nickel and dime looks. When it is 3rd and 2, no way no how.

Cowboys need Al Harris to get good production out of Chido or Jourdan...to show he can really help guys get better.

I say start #24 at LCB Day one, and see if he can hold the position. If Chido stumbles then move him to S or whatever, but let him defend his title, first. Heck...

RCB - #26 Lewis
LCB - #24 Awuzie
SCB - #30 Brown

Let these guys start and see if any of the new CBs can out play them.

I disagree with a few things. Lewis isn't a better slot corner than Anthony Brown. Also I wouldn't put Reggie Robinson at safety since he is a great press man corner who was number 1 on my board in the draft as a press man corner.

I would like to see Awuzie at safety because his best plays have been with his eyes facing the QB. Wilson should have got playing time last year and I think could win the starting job this year.

i admit im too hard on anthony brown...i just really like lewis hope to see him on the field.
i would love to see both rookies as our CB 1&2...just doubt it happens.
it could tho.
awuzie played some s at colorado....i like the kid and think he will find his way.

For guys like Awuzie and his career so far, its 70% chance he is going somewhere else.

If he has a great year, someone will offer him big money. If he has a similar year, he wont be worth what others will offer him. And if we switch him to safety in his contract year he will probably be pissed and wont resign.

For me, what happens with Awuzie would depend on how good the other corners are. If the rookies really impress then I possibly look to move him to safety.

In all honesty, I think the best play is to start him this year opposite Diggs and allow our other rookie a year to develop.

Lewis is a better outside corner then Brown though. But if we are talking just slot I'm not taking Lewis over Brown.

With Awuzie I think he will move around in different positions in the secondary.

As far as starting corners, it's Diggs and Worley...... in my opinion. Robinson I think can become the starter or contribute in a big way by midseason. He is going to surprise. If you watch his film, Robinson would press man all game long with no help over the top and would draw the other teams best receivers. He would shut down whatever side he was on.
