I can’t figure out the “plan” with Crawford. He seemed to be willing to take a pay cut and the Cowboys didn’t take him up on it. That smells more like a cut to me, and he is coming off of an injury, so who really knows.

I think if they were going to cut him, they would have done it by now ... unless they want to see how it goes in camp first.

Depending on how quickly Smith and possibly Gregory can reacclimate at end, he might be first in line at that position on early downs and he's still our second-best 3-tech until proven otherwise. Ideally, at what he's getting paid, he's the guy you are targeting to bump off the roster, but I think we've been trying to do that for years (Collins, Charlton, Irving, Gregory, Hill) and the efforts have come up short.

Taking a developmental player in the second round is generally a bad idea. You can get developmental players throughout the draft. A second rounder should be fighting for playing time early.

I can see why you would take a flyer on a guy like Jaylon who was touted as a top 5 pick pre-injury. But if a guy drafted in the second cant even fight for snaps, then we over drafted him.

I'm partially with you on the role of a second-rounder. Ideally, you'd like for him to be fighting for playing time early, but if he needs a year to acclimate and ultimately turns into a beast, I can't say that was a bad choice.

In other words, while I don't like what we've seen from Hill up to this point, I'm not ready to close the book on him being a bad pick. I'll give up a year on a second-rounder, if he starts playing like a first-rounder. Do I expect that to happen? No. But I don't discount it because there have been other players, especially some coming from smaller schools, who needed a little time to get it figured out.

But Lamb was already very highly regarded, coming into the NFL draft ,and even 6th overall player on Cowboys daft board, how would that be a steal ?
Usually a steal would be a more unsuspected rookie draft pick who emerges far more than what was expected of him.
Bradlee Anaes would be considered a steal.

A steal in regards to draft position. At 17 he was a steal. And if he lives up to the super high expectations he has for himself and that we have for him, he'll be a super steal.

I think that’s fair. But just going on what we have seen so far, I’m not encouraged about his changes.
