I would say playing in Rod Marinelli’s predictable Defense will help out

It's really hard to say. He's looked good and bad in the same season(s). Guess every corner can have good and bad days.
I think he's talented enough to be a starting corner, but the talk of possibly moving to safety is interesting. I feel he is Brandon Carr lite. Not a bad player, can play decent coverage but isn't a dynamic corner. But then again, maybe he has some untapped potential Richard couldn't tap into, or his coverages didn't jive with what Awuzie is good at.

Let him compete. If he is good enough play him. If he is good enough and will take a descent contract then sign him.

Go back and watch Awuzie at Colorado. I thought this kid from the rip shoulda been playing slot or safety. He never showed fantastic cover skills on the outside on tape. But man he made some great plays blitzing from the slot and good instincts on the back end. He's not afraid to stick his nose in there and get physical. I thought Lewis and Byron should have been outside with Awuzie in the slot. I still feel Awuzie's best game is not on the outside moving him around could create favorable matchups and versatility in our secondary. Hopefully our new coaches take advantage.

There has been alot of speculation about Awuzie since the draft and post draft, where we have added 3 CB's. Coupled that with the talk of playing CB's at Safety, and its left alot of us wondering what the plan with Awuzie is.

What would your plan for Awuzie be, both now and for the future?

Since i consider Awuzie the best starter and player among the current CB guys of Chido, Jourdan and Brown
..i would rather go with him for this last year here before he departs in FA, and hopefully some team vastly
overpays for him that enriches a compensatory pick .. ditto with lewis..

i'll feel better chancing Awuzie starting on the outside ..vs lewis or Brown starting on the outside.

Awuzie and Diggs on the outside with Brown in the slot is the main setup. You could try putting Brown and Diggs outside with Lewis in the slot and Awuzie at SS. I need to see robinson in a few games before starting him over brown.

You must not have watched lewis on the outside at the end of 2017

I am just soooo glad we drafted both Diggs and Robinson, which should tell you how I feel about Woozie.

i've watched him quite thoroughly outside and slot but still not as impressed with him as his fan base mania is constantly insisting.
He was better outside than awuzie was in 2017. Coaches killed his confidence.

he was just not that good.
BTW are you gonna be blaming these new coaching regime as well for Lewis' shortcomings and roster fade too
if he is not promoted so ?

nope i blame richard for having lewis on the bench before 2018 even started even though him being the best corner on the team in 2017

I wanted Awuzie in the first round in 2017 over Taco Charlton. I was very happy to have him picked at #60 in the 2nd round. IMO, he's the best CB the Cowboys have, and I would be very hesitant to move him to safety.

If they are not going to move him back to his natural position of S (played S in College), then sign Eric Berry or Eric Reid to play SS. Awuzie is going to walk in free agency as a CB, but as a S you maybe able to sign him long term at a lower value. Eric Reid has value because he can play SS, FS, and OLB.

If healthy and because he can play SS, FS, and Slot makes Eric Berry a huge upgrade over either Earl Thomas or Jamal Adams both who the Cowboys tried to get. Berry has a long relationship with Al Harris the Cowboys new Secondary Coach. Berry signing would also allow the Cowboys to keep Awuzie at CB until his replacement is found as Berry makes up for a lot of CB mistakes with his superior S play.

If the Cowboys are serious about having a flexible defense, George Edwards and Al Harris would have fun with either Awuzie, Berry, or Reid at SS. Ha Ha Clinton Dix would be FS lagniappe.

Awuzie can be a nickel safety maybe but asking him to seal an edge or fill a gap consistently against backs and TE is a recipe for disaster in base defense. He doesn't play physical enough.

He like every other corner wasn't looking for the ball. Hopefully Al Harris can help with that. The only secondary player we have with a nose for the ball is Lewis and he has other issues. He's less physical than Awuzie.

Overall the secondary has not been very physical. Jones was probably the most physical player particularly with Frazier out. Diggs seems average in the physicality except when it comes to the jam. HaHa is a guy that ducks contact. Woods and Lewis are small. Brown is our most phyiscal player in the secondary right now. He lost some of the dog he had in his rookie year.

Our front 7 needs to play well. Poe should help tremendously. OTOH, if guards get on our backers and our secondary is consistently having to make tackles we are going to give up big plays.

Simple, simple mate, hawk him and his name to the raiders. Get a 2nd rnd. Hawk him off to the giants, a 2nd end pick.
Sigh, you thanks are so passive.

2 years of watching this failure should be enough. Trade him for a 4th.

I hope he's left his true position CB and let him prove himself to the new coaching staff. He shouldn't be penalized by his play under a horrible inept prior system coached by highly incompetent coaches.
If he cant win the starting job, so be it. But don't penalize the guy by moving him to a new position.
Did you feel the same way about Randy White?

I think Awuzie can be a decent starter and that's probably his ceiling. Depending on how he plays this year we'll see if he deserves a 2nd contract. My gut tells me no. I haven't seen any big play ability or any real ball instincts.
