So you think the COVID-19 only negatively affects the Cowboys?

I do believe it hurts the new coaches trying to implement new systems, schemes, and culture.

A team like New Orleans didn't have any virtual offseason. That would not happen THIS year in Dallas. That's what I'm talking about.

Because Dallas has a new coaching staff they are behind those teams whose systems, schemes, and culture are already set and established.

Andy Dalton QB "Man is it nice to have a legit backup QB"
Dontar Poe DT "Are you kidding me? This guy brings vet experience, leadership AND production"
Gerald McCoy DE "Are you kidding me? This guy brings vet experience, leadership AND production"
Cameron Irving LT "Solid backup for the Oline"
Daryl Worley CB "Former 3rd pick who is versatile"
Ha-ha Clinton Dix S "Former Pro Bowler who has started 96 NFL games. 96!"
Greg Zuerlein K "Forbath better come to camp prepared. One of the interesting battles in camp"
Blake Bell TE "The Ying to Jarwins Yang. Zeke applauds"
Maurice Canady CB "Big CB with excellent speed. Can he make the team?"

Combine this FA class with by all accounts one of the best draft classes this year and there is reason for hope. For you haters who pray for an 8-8 season I know it's a tough pill to swallow because you live in the negative, but there's no reason not to be excited about this up coming season. Oh, and also there's an almost completely new coaching staff with SB experience.

The new coaching staff is the most exciting thing for me. Led by an experienced, respected HC who has won a SB and Jerry not dare try to bully. So glad that prior horrible inept staff is gone.

What about the extra preseason game the Cowboys have? What about the hunger the players are going to have trying to prove themselves to the new coaching staff? Moore is still the OC which he led Dak to within 1 yard of the all time Cowboy QB passing record. MM is an offensive guru and he has turned the offense over to him by retaining him. The defense will be totally different but do you think it will be worse than last year? What about hiring one of the best Special Teams coaches in Fassel to fix one of the worst special teams last year? What about the best draft by many? What about the best post draft free agency pickups? You can chose to be pessimistic if you want but I just don’t understand your position. Some people are just that way I guess.

Obviously you’re a long time hater and don’t realize that it’s already been a home run offseason.

There's a massive hole at RDE that they are attempting to fill with retreads. Sign Griffen and you have filled a big need.

Obviously you are too much of a homer to admit that this team still has some questions. Every year it's the same......... Rockport talks about how awesome they are and calls anyone who points out some questions a "hater" and then the season plays out, Cowboys underperform and everyone laughs at Rockport.

Here's the reality. This team wasn't all that great at getting to the QB last year. They lost their second best pass rusher from a team that wasn't a great pass rushing team. They seem to be building a model here where they pair a high flying offense with a defense that might give up some points and yards but will create turnovers. One way to do that is get after the QB. But this team is lacking a starting RDE. Crawford isn't that. He's a better inside player than outside player anyway. The other two options are a guy in Smith, who has been out of football for nearly 5 years, and Gregory, who still isn't reinstated.

Griffen solves your RDE problem, allows Crawford to stay in his better role of back up/flex DL, and then the pressure for Smith and Gregory to be killers from the edge is minimized and anything you get from them is just a luxury.

That's called critical thinking. That's called looking realistically at the roster and knowing where the flaws are and being honest and truthful with oneself. But I suspect you think Aldon Smith is going to be like the 2012 Smith and rack up 20 sacks.

Hey, you haters are gonna hate. It’s what you do. I can’t stop it. No one can stop it. It’s how you live your life. All I can do, and I will continue to do, is point it out so the newbies are on to you early.

You never have a substantive response to posts that talk football.

It’s all just “you are a hater” stuff. You are arguably the least knowledgeable football fan on this board. It’a quite the feat.

Well, you need to look at the new threads created just today. Just to shut you down. But in the big picture, instead of addressing post #46 you chose to attack me. That says something and it isn’t good for you.``

It's not only better coaching, it is highly experienced coaching with a number of support staffers that were head coaches themselves. They will more than hit the ground running getting this team into groove.

Despite the changes in player personnel I believe our team is actually better equipped than most teams to handle the challenges of a changed and shortened preseason; the social tremors, COVID-19, naked pictures of Kim Jong-un, and a giant asteroid hitting the earth. I swear some folks in here are cheerleaders for the morgue.

Don't get me wrong, I think this team improved in all three phases. But as luck would have it, the virus comes and throws a monkey wrench into the works causing one to pause. You have to, it's an unknown variable.

I could see a scenario where the season doesn't go according to plan and the shorten offseason could be seen as one of the factors(excuse) for underachieving.
It's a definite possibility, but I think even the teams who've been relatively unchanged will have issues too, so I think it'll be less of a factor than one might expect.

It won’t be any worse than the slow starts we have seen the last couple years.

Luckily we do have a lot of veterans on this team and we retained our offensive coaching staff. The offense will be the strength of this team and we only have one new player that should play a pivotal role on that side of the ball in Lamb.

New coaching staff’s have had a lot of success over the last several years as well. Sometimes it can be harder on your opponent trying to catch up to speed and figure out your new formations as well especially since we have had the Kiffin/Marinelli staff in place for so long.
Good point about other teams being unfamiliar with our new looks.

There is reason to be pessimistic.

Along with those new players is a completely new coaching staff who don't know any of the players.

Add to that there have been no OTAs and mini camp to put the coaching staff further behind.

Now you hear about the preseason being shortened and it gives the coaching staff even less time to get the players acclimated to their new schemes.

Teams like Dallas will start the season further behind than those teams with little change from last year. This is a major disadvantage.

Dallas had maybe the best offseason of any team, but circumstances may negate that.

We as fans won't know what kind of team Dallas has this year till week one, and maybe not even then. I want to hope for the best, but right now that's wishful thinking.
As long as the same things are happening to the other 31 teams then I’m good.
