Would any fan on here pay Dak 40 million per year?

My limit is 35m per year and that is hard for me just because I don't like paying any one player that much.

I guess that is the price now for QB's. Yuck.

The QB market will correct itself.
I agree. At some point, it will.

Funny thing is, I've always said, "You have to pay your QB." Little did I know that their salary demands were going to get so high that it became questionable to do so. 25% of your salary cap for one player is simply too much, no matter who he is.

I thought it addressed your question because I've been around longer than you and so has complaining about the Cowboys.

Do you know that some other sports fans don't do it about their teams as well?

Unless you've been a Cowboys since day one, Jan.28, 1960, like I have then the chances of you being around longer is in question.

Out performed goff and wentz. The #1 and #2 first round picks in the 2016 draft. Lol. They have been extended. And got huge contracts.

Dak was picked in the 4th round and played all 4 years of his rookie deal. And got paid peanuts. Now he is asking for slightly more than the 2’he has out done. If he was drafted as our 4th pick in the first round instead of Elliot then I bet most would not have a problem with him getting 34-35 million.

Why should the Cowboys have to allocate a gigantic chunk of their payroll to Dak just because the Rams and Eagles made a mistake and generously overpaid their QB’s?

Well, um... You seem to be unnecessarily angry at me for some reason. And you are wrong on ALL counts.

1. https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/dak-prescott-officially-gets-33m-franchise-tag
"Prescott received the exclusive franchise tag worth around $33 million."

2. That "bidding war" was my point. Let them bid. That is HOW you find the true market value as I said. The WORST thing that happens there is that you get 2 first round picks.

3. Love? Really? Assuming that Dak received an offer that we chose NOT to match, we would have received one first round pick this year and one next year. Depending on which team signed Dak, we might not have even had to make a trade to get a replacement QB. Can you imagine getting Tua AND CeeDee?

I think you missed something in your link proof. Eatman said and I'll quote "Prescott received the exclusive franchise tag worth around $33 million." Now I'll give you a link where they aren't guessing around the amount. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/dallas-cowboys/

Next on yours and mine bidding war thing. You forgot a very important thing. Jerry, Stephen and McCarthy have all said that Prescott is their franchise QB for now and for the future. so why would they want to open a bidding war that would drive up the price on their QB for now and the future?

And lastly those 2 draft picks are a moot point. Jerry probably said to Stephen I know ColoradoCowboy wants us to use the non-exclusive tag but because we think Prescott is our franchise QB for now and the future we're going to use the exclusive tag.

I didn't intend to be angry with you personally it's just gotten when people say that the Cowboys should have used the non-exclusive tag they fail to get how the Cowboys, Jerry, Stephen and McCarthy feel about Prescott and making it harder to sign their QB because other teams drive up the price.

You can’t even answer a simple question. If I complicate it, you will definitely get confused.
You would be totally wrong. I understand intricate details. Don’t confuse me with someone else. Like you said simple question. For simple minds. Nothing is simple. You can’t make a broad statement like that

25%?

Russell Wilson leads the NFL right now 15%. No one is even sniffing 25%. Mahomes wont even come close to that when he signs

Because that’s what they do. Look at Elliot. The rams over paid gurly so Elliot holds out and JJ pays him.

Maybe because he turned down 35?
I heard he turned down 33. Not 35. I think 35 is on the table now but JJ wants 5 years and Dak wants 4. I would pay him for the 4. Then we could get out in 3 if he regresses. I think he will get better. But who knows.

On average? Not at this stage. But any new deal will probably peak near or over 40mil for a year or two towards the end of the contract depending on how the Cowboys spread out the cap hits. Which would probably be on par with new QB contracts in a few years and nothing to really freak out over

If you have to, then you have to.

might sound silly, but QBs might be underpaid for their overall importance to the football team.

$35-40 million is a no from me.

But as the front office have run the team far more efficiently lately (I think we are 2nd or 3rd in lowest dead money on the cap) then we could afford to overpay Prescott even though it would result in a weaker roster as a result.

Is Prescott the type of player that you would want to overpay?
