Isn't Boyle a key blocker for the Ravens?
Thought they value him more than other teams would for more of strictly blocking TE.

You think Moreau would be available this early? He had an impressive TD total last year before injury.

Outside of that, I would still take a flier on shaheen even though he hasn't lived up to any hype

Boyle is least likely available

Moreau saw Waller break out, then the Raiders went out and signed Witten to a nice contract. I'd consider almost all TE3's available.

OMG, a non-Dak thread...how could that be (or did I just make it a Dak thread LOL)….

although most are elated that Witten is gone (I didn't think he was as bad as everyone made him to be, but clearly wasn't the answer), knowing that the team had been looking for his replacement for years. most are excited about Jarwin, and projecting based on fantasy football, etc. for him to get first team reps and just double/triple his out put (half joking)….Jarwin is still green and his game leaves a lot to be desired and we just don't know how he will do as a full time starter, where he doesn't have to line up every down, block and he didn't have to deal with primary defenders and was an after thought on offense and often played against weaker defenders and only succeeded in certain plays......

although we have CD, Coop and Gallup. zeke and pollard, the TE position is lacking both in starter and back up....we signed a FA TE who is primarily a blocker (so his use is predictable).

there was talk about OJ Howard, with Tampa having signed Gronk and paid Brate, Howard maybe the forgotten man. so is he available. can we go after him. what will it take. having Howard who doesn't have great stats, but good and can be a decent blocker and decent receiver with some speed added to the TEs would only make that position into a strength and de-risk Jarwin being the primary and right now the only viable TE on the roster...

so would it be a bad trade sending Lewis to Tampa for Howard? they have a need at CB and we have a need at TE....win win?

The way I see it the Cowboys have actually don't it perfectly. Cant pay ANOTHER position big money on offense. Jarwin is good enough catching the ball and Bell can block. And we save lots of money at the position. Well done.

Defense is where we need the studs.

OJ Howard has been a bust.
That said I would like him splitting time with Jarwin. I think as a receiving TE Jarwin has something. I worry about his durability though and would not be surprised if he can't last an entire season.

I wouldn't imagine it would cost much for Howard since he will be a FA coming up and someone will overpay him.

The Bucs picked up Howard's 5th year option, so he won't be a UFA until after 2021. They restructured Brate(he took a pay cut) and can cut ties with him after 2020 with no dead money.

our offense was terrible in the Red Zone. We couldnt score against good teams either. We need a 50/50 baller te who can score. Our entire te core and fbs would get cut anywhere else. It wouldnt be so bad if we had a couple of sorry tes. Its playing them on every passing snap that is idiotic

Thanks. He sounds like he just got more expensive.
No thanks. His production has not been impressive so far in his career.

well yeah, but it is what it is. I personally think Jarwin is underrated and will be the guy. If we can find a backup TE somewhere, fine but I wouldn't sell the farm or even a large garden for one at this point.
I think he may, over time find his way as a receiving TE, but he just doesn't have the wherewithal to be a blocker, which people forget its an essential part of a TE responsibility.

I wasn't aware that they picked up his 5th year.....that's useful info....I guess he is out of our price range, rather have more defensive help..

you listed the exact reasons why we wont need to give up assets for a TE..we are loaded on offense, id rather go after another DT/DE or CB..

Very true. Weird to remember Witten is still in the league and not on the Cowboys.

in octane passing scheme offenses such as both Dirk Koetter and Bruce Arians, Howard still was a forgotten commodity. And those like Cameron Braten outplaying him and he'll be that much buried in depth chart with
Gronk coming on board. - what is it about his game that has not elevated or been underachieving at the NFL
level.

I'm only for trading for him if the McClay and Stephen group are convinced he's too unique a talent to pass up for a bargain trade pick (ala robert quinn like trade)
Yes we've already re-sign Jarwin, but we would not only have great depth, but if OJ Howard has a resurgence
and becomes everything eh was advertised to be at draft time then we for surely have our version of Zack Ertz/Dallas Goebert franchise TE for years to come.

Zeke should be able to score down there, but he has problems bouncing outside and outrunning guys to the pylon. So he becomes predictable down there as he is only a real threat up the middle.

Scheme was a major problem. Dak should also be used down there. Pollard, Lamb...………….they should pull out all the stops down the by the goal line so that nobody knows what's coming.

Trust me, Moore with no leash on and the help of MM they will be deadly down there.

I'm keeping a CB not trading one for a TE.

If you need one, get one after the final cuts are made.

Do injuries happen in preseason? Then why trade away dept, you might need, for a guy that won't get on the field much? Let it play out and see what happens, IMO.

Howard is a bit of overkill but if we could find someone that is decent on ST and can contribute in the passing game should Jarwin get injured that’d be great. Howard can do that it’s just he’s a bit too good/expensive.
