Troy could definitely throw a dime or two, but his entrepreneurial/managerial skills seem lacking, somehow....

Try to trade Dak for a good #1 pick, pick up Scam Newton (only if he cuts his hair), then roll with Dalton as backup..

Finally, trade your two 1's and a player like Jaylon or Gallup, to move up in next year's draft for a legitimate blue-chip QB...

Let Dak go ahead and count all the money he'll get as QB1 for an iconic team like the Jaguars, Titans, Browns, or Bills... He'd be stupid not to..
There are no blue chip QB prospects in a draft.

This is a story of a rich owner trying to squeeze a rich athlete and agent. The rich athlete and agent are also trying to squeeze the rich owner. You know who pays for this in the end? Us...
it doesnt matter what Dak gets on this contract. It doesnt hurt Jerry's bottom line nor does it impact us. The cap is what the cap is. It impacts Dak's teammates.

Agreed. The NFL or I think at least JJ has trustworthy accountants and plenty of help they have to advise them on money.. and they have a pretty good retirement.
Lol I'll say. Under the age of 35. Money greedy/hogs, over 35.

If you look at deals near there end I’d say probably more often than people think
Can’t judge a deal till near the end of the deal
But one he saved the team many millions but didn’t look so great when it was done
T Smith
That was my first thought as well. Might be the best deal the Jerry ever did.

And Smith has never complained or asked for a raise, he truly is a class act. I would love to have 50 of him on my team.

Jerry has had his share of bad deals
To me the worst were not contracts but trades
Many didn’t like signs Roy Williams but the contract wasn’t the problem
Once you made the trade you had to sign him so to me the trade was the mistake

This isn't baseball, JJ's not saving money, or restricting payments for his own pocket.

The contract will certainly effect teammates as JJ has got himself into a tight Cap corner over the next 4 years.

At the time it wasn’t cheap
It became cheap over time as pay soared
One thing I’ve loved about smith is he never complained when his contract became way under the market
It was cheap enough that the NFLPA was upset about it.

JJ didnt get himself into a corner... they drafted well and had players that were so good they deemed it necessary to not let the player walk. Why draft players you think will be great if you just let em walk?

Honestly, I side with the player about 99% of the time in their quest to get paid. Because the owners, Jerry even more so, make exponentially more money than players over time.

A typical player’s career last less than a decade whereas these owners have generational wealth that grows at higher % than the players, without whom there is no NFL. And I also reject the idea that says the owners are “the risk takers” more than the players. Owning an NFL team is one of the safest financial investments in the world. And players are risking their future physical and mental health every time they step foot on a field.

Contract conflicts are not “battles between millionaires.” It’s battles between powerful billionaires (Owners) and temporary millionaires (players).
I can agree with the players getting their money. But, I can't agree if a single player's contract will screw the CAP up to the point the team can't pay and keep other good players, thus making our team 8-8 forever. I like Dak as our QB and he deserves good money, but he has to be reasonable.

He's backed himself into a corner as he's struggling to sign Dak to anything other than a long term contract.

He needs Dak to sign as long a contract as possibly (preferably 5 years) as he'll struggle: a) keeping the existing team together and b) improving the team by signing many if any FA's over the next 3 /4 years.

Oh, dear Lord, three things I pray unto thee .....

I beseech thee, dear Lord, grant unto my Cowboy bretheren these three things:

1. world peace
2. heal all the ill of the world
3. Have Dak sign his [bleepity-bleep] contract already!

sorry, this is ridiculous. Did he ever sign Tony to a 3 year deal? Name me a team that didnt sign the qb to a big dollar deal and then didnt struggle to keep players. Seattle had the issue, New Orleans had the issue....... you make it like Jerry is a moron and his dumb deals has created all sorts of problems for the Cowboys alone......smh
