Romo was absolutely a top 5 QB of his era. It is not even debatable. His QB rating, comebacks, highest rated 4th qtr QB ever. The choke artist crap is just a bunch of propaganda. It is not supported by any type of fact based argument. It is ESPN ratings driven garbage that even some Cowboys fans believe because they focus on his errors while ignoring the same errors in the other top QB's

Now, I don't think he gets in mainly because of the brevity of his career and the injury loss of 2015 and 2016 and lack of postseason wins but he was a top 5 of his era!

The same people that reject the stats and buy into the "anti-romo garbage" ...are some of the very same people defending Dak based on QB stats.

I'm all for "defending Dak based on QB stats".....as long as do the same for Tony.

You mean Danny White who threw almost as many interceptions (132) as TD passes (155), and had more interceptions in the playoffs (16) than TDs (15)?

Granted, it was a different era, but Danny White was not near as good for his time as Romo was for his. I could provide the numbers to show you that, but something tells me you wouldn't believe it so I'm not going to waste my time.

Now there's a man of good discernment. If one doesn't already deem the numbers "good".....then what's the point of trying to do it NOW?

Do i think he's deserving? Maybe. If he does get in it'll probably be when he's 70+ since they'll be looking for rings.

Hall of Famer Joe Namath threw for 173 TDs and 220 interceptions and his team never won a playoff game outside of its 1968 Super Bowl season. If you count records against quarterbacks, he finished with more losses than wins. One Super Bowl year erased a lot of mediocrity.

Romo won't be considered for the Hall of Fame on 1st ballot or many after. Those other guys will play some more years, retire and after 5 years still get in before Romo is considered.

His best path is to add a great broadcasting career to his strong passing numbers, because the lack of playoff success by the Cowboys will always be held against him by voters.

Romo was awesome. He’s not a hall of famer as a player, though. Maybe he gets in when including post-playing career after commentating and, maybe, coaching. He could be the first guy to reach the pinnacle in all three areas.

I feel bad for Holley that he’s out of things that make him relevant to Cowboys fans. It was a good run for him though, considering the quality of player he actually was.

I like Romo, and think he gets far too much grief from people for his career. By any standard, his career was a rousing success - went from being an undrafted free agent to being a 4 time Pro Bowler. For all of the people going on about his talent - he went undrafted because of his level of play in college and a lack of physical gifts. Romo made his way by being a grinder, not because of immense talent. He should have been the MVP of the league in 2014 - he led the league in passer rating, QBR, completion percentage and yards per attempt.

All of that being said, he's not a Hall of Famer by any standard. In truth, I don't think he's even a Ring of Honor player, but he will probably get put up there anyway.

This is the Daily Troll by the Dak slobberers
We really can’t find any fake Dak propaganda stats on Twitter anymore, can we? Everyone on this forum knows Tony isn’t going to make the Hall of Fame, but yeah let’s have a bunch of brainless Dak slobberers blow off some steam against their strawman.
You Gotta stop playing with it so much. Slobbering has become your past time

I doubt Romo gets into the HOF but he should have made it easily with the talent he had.
Exactly. People like to blame the lack of talent. For his lack of success in the playoffs.

He doesn’t have a ring and he wasn’t a top 5 QB of his era. Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers and Big Ben should all be placed higher. You can argue he’s better than Ben maybe(I wouldn’t) but not the others. He doesn’t even have a MVP, he was never once considered “the best” at any point of his career.

There are hundreds of quality players that have their career limited due to circumstances out of their control. That’s part of the game and shouldn’t be an argument for the hall of fame.

If Garrett was that bad, Romo should’ve been in Jerry’s ear and not going to sporting events with Jason.
Agree 100%.
Stop jocking Romo. He was a good qb, but his retiring didn't impact the Cowboys one bit.
We are perennial 8-8'ers under Jerry Jones. Remove Jimmy from the equation and we are slightly better than the Lions as an organization...

I don't think Tony makes it. He has never even played in a Championship game.

As much as I like Tony, and agree that Garrett did more to hurt than help, I'm afraid Romo belongs in the Hall of Very Good.
Actually Garrett was decent when he was with Tony Romo. He didn’t get bad until last three seasons

I've told some of you Garrett lovers that he was the reason for our teams up and down tendencies, I've told you that it was like a noose around the players necks having to gameplan week after week with the freckled puppet at the hands of Jerry Jones! No one listened, I know Holley is a scrub but he knows whats up here! The verdict is in and confirmed! The freckled puppet is a great man of character but an absolute horrible head coach in terms of game planning and scheme. Tony Romo likely would of won a couple of super bowls had he played under a coach whom didn't play favorites and constructed a team the right way. If any of you guys think that the players responded to Garrett's fake cussing and rah rah speeches hook line and sinker you need your heads examined.

Unless you want to start removing guys, how would you think he's not a Ring of Honor player? Or to put it another way, write your Ring of Honor qualification list that excludes Romo but doesn't kick anyone else out.

Sad to think Eli is making the HOF but Romo isn't. Romo was a far better player. It's not even close.

But Eli had the post season success Romo never had. And that will be the difference.

I've never heard anyone claim a 13 year career that resulted in a lot of fame and a lot of accomplishments and a boatload of money equates to a career that was "destroyed".

His career wasn't all it could have been - which happens to a lot of players - but that isn't the same as his career being "destroyed". Even without accomplishing all he would have liked, the man got a hell of a lot out of his career, and it's still paying off or him even in his career after playing football.
Did you get distracted by someone else's comment? HoF worthy? yes or no?

Jesse Holley just took a big credibility hit. Romo has no chance at the Hall of Fame.

I don’t think it’s debatable that Manning, Brady, Rodgers and Brees had better careers so at best you can put him 5th but you’re going to have a hard time arguing him over Big Ben.

Ben has the stats, a much better winning percentage and two rings. I think Romo is probably 6th...I’d absolutely argue he had a better career than Eli or Rivers.
I will give you that. With that said, Romo was in the top 6 in Rating and QBR of those guys almost every year he played. Those 4 guys, Brees, Rodgers, Manning and Brady will go down as the top QB's to ever play in the NFL period. If you had a poll of top QB's in the history of the league, I believe those 4 would be in the top 10. Maybe they appear in the top 7 and Romo was right there with them in performance in his time.

Now granted, he does not have that 1 ring that Brees and Rodgers have for their combined 30 years of play!!

The Cowboys are/were far above 8-8 on average under both Romo and Dak.
