If jimmy stays I think we don’t fall off the cliff like we did with Troy left...

Jimmy had an eye for talent and would have been able to manage the talent better with the cap.

AND...………...would then THAT Cowboys team be considered the best of all time?

Who do you blame more for the breakup? Jerry or Jimmy?

As much as Jerry is a @#$%^$## for pushing Jimmy out, Jimmy is a punk for leaving. How do you leave when you are going for #3?

I blame them both. Two big egos that couldn't make it work.

If Jimmy staying had kept Erik Williams from crashing his car and mangling his knee.

If EW was healthy for the playoffs, then the Cowboys would have won the Super Bowl for the 94 season.

YES. No question in my mind.
A lock like the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.
He owned the league. There was no team good enough to stop them.
I can never forgive Jerry Jones.

in a row? MAYBE NOT, but do we win another ring? YEP. Both Jerry and Jimmy regret wat happened. Ego's by both did them in. We kinda knew at some point that was inevitable.

Absolutely not being Aikman retired. With one piece of the puzzle gone, so is another SB championship.

I never personally heard that about Sanders.

What I DO recall is Johnson being critical of Jones signing Sanders and letting Harper, Stepnoski etc go.

This was his own voice, not a quote, so I know he said it.

The two wouldnt seem to add up, but ok.

The question was do we win MORE if he stays, and I'm not sure the answer is definitely yes.

Do they not have the turnovers vs SF if they have a different coach? That's impossible to say.

Green Bay had caught and surpassed them heading into the 96 range.

Sure, maybe they win another.....and theres absolutely zero doubt they are a better team with him there, but again if there no Sanders, I don't think 95 happens, and I don't recall at all where Johnson was lobbying hard for him. If he was he was being hypocritical afterward, hence my comment.

Just one instance of Jimmy recruiting Deion. There were more.

As for the loss of Stepnoski, I find that hard to believe because Step was not one of Jimmy's hard core loyalists. They often butted heads.

And Harp was nicknamed Frilight because of his poor work ethic and inconsistent performance.

Four in a row.

Jimmy would have made better, more logical choices when it came to who to keep and who to release through veteran free agency and the salary cap. Jerry made emotional choices based on what players had already done for the team rather than based on future potential. Jimmy would have kept them sharp, prepared and scared of failure. Without Jimmy, the locker room turned into a country club. Jimmy was too cold blooded to let that happen. He would have made an example out of someone.

They went into the 94 NFC championship unprepared, not mentally sharp.

In 1996 they would have beat the Panthers in the playoffs and gone to to the NFC championship game for the fifth consecutive time.......where they would have lost to the Packers.......The Packers had a pretty dominant season.

They would not have had a losing season in 1997. By then Jimmy would have already been grooming Aikman's replacement and it wouldn't have been some failed baseball player.

I love Jimmy he's my second favorite cowboys coach. (we've only had 2 HCs as far as I'm concerned)

But no, players were getting big heads after 2 bowl wins, so a third in a row would not have happened. Some players would have quit on him. That said he could have replaced the malcontents and in a couple seasons we could have had another run. .

If he stayed we'd have 10 super bowls by now

My biggest problem ...TO THIS DAY IS...

we were cheated out of finding out

3 in a row was possible (Would still be only team to do that)
4 in a row
Maybe 5

4 of 5

Most people forget that Jimmy had stated he was out as HC after the Super Bowl. I always wondered how much of part that played with Jerry.

And yes if Jimmy stays the Cowboys win 4 in a row.

I definitely think it was Jimmy too. Leaving was dumb. He should have swallowed his pride or worked it out for two more years. Would have been the best team of all time.

And fell behind by 21 due to that. Hindsight is 20/20, but I don't think a JJ coached team would have made the blunders to fall behind 21.
But Jerry didn't actually take over all of the HC duties until after Wade came on board. (sorry stupid joke-move on, but when I see JJ I think Jerry, not Jimmy)

Most probably jimmy would not have won more Super Bowls .

Jerry gets a lot of blame but Jimmy wanted out and was in talks with Jacksonville . He taunted Jerry so often . Jerry saved and rejuvenated the cowboys when he bought the team . Jerry felt jimmy under appreciated that aspect .

Jimmy insulted Jerry many times including during the visit from prince bandar of Saudi Arabia . A wealthy prince who helped Jerry buy the team and helped in the financing phase . Jimmy never paid attention to his lack of manners or outbursts against Jerry and his partners .

Switzer had a calming effect and bonded with the stars and staff and to his credit won a super bowl 2 years after jimmy left. This means he did well considering the losses and thr transition. . Switzer Was always in a no win situation following jimmy’s success . If the Cowboys had not had a bad bounce here and there in the game at candlestick park , Switzer could have won 2 SB.
Jimmy’s style was effective but would have not lasted long. They needed a player’s coach .
Free agency hit the cowboys the hardest , the losses were massive .

We'll never know, but the odds were in Jimmy's favor. They went 12-4 & made it to the NFC Championship game in Switzer's debut season. They were a ridiculously talented team.

I agree, we will never know... With that said, I believe if Jimmy had stayed, we would have won 5 in a row.
