HA HA is a nice placeholder until the longer term starter shakes out in camp down the line. He was a steal I think though. He will surprise and do a very respectable job. THAT SAID, Lets not sleep on Donovan Wilson. This guy has great ball hawking instincts...and best of all, he has no fear. This pie in the sky bs of trading for Adams and fielding a MADDEN team is pure stupidity on many fronts. When was the last time we saw a NFL team win a ring after signing/trading for a high profile safety? This is fools gold. Teams are forged in the offseason...camp battles what have you. It separates the wheat from the chaff. LASTLY, what about the pay he will want?Who ya gonna trade and cut to fit him into the cap? Dont forget, we have yet to sign Dak. THERE IS REALITY...and then we have FANTASY. Lets hope reality sets in.

Jackson was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 1999 NFL draft. He made his NFL debut versus the Denver Broncos.

Jackson was the MVP of Super Bowl XXXVII, recording two interceptions. His margin of victory for the award was the "fan vote" in which he gained four votes based on internet polling. Were it not for the fan votes, Simeon Rice would have won the award. He was the first safety to win the award since Jake Scott in 1973, the third defensive back overall (joining Scott and Larry Brown).

So yes, but rare,,, so your point is understood, but you asked, so the answer is yes, there has been SB MVP safeties,, basically irrelevant now.

OK there has been ONE safety MVP in FIFTY FOUR Super Bowls. Not a very good percentage. Now tell me all of the games Jackson was credited for the wins that got Tampa Bay to the Super Bowl. Let me give you an example. Larry Brown was MVP of Super Bowl XXX yet during the season he wasn't given credit as the reason for any of the wins during the season that got them there. He had a big game was MVP but wasn't the big reason the Cowboys got there.

agree...the Jets have been badly run...maybe on the same level as the Browns. THAT BAD.

Yes. Since the Buttfumble, they've been absolutely ghastly. Before that, they actually had 2 years in the AFC Championship. But other than that and when they had Parcells, they've been terrible!

The Jets have played in THREE conference championship games since the Cowboys last played in one. They've gone 4-2 vs the Cowboys during that time.

In the third year of a 5 year rookie contract and making demands. I would ignore his demands even if he holds out. He can sit for two years and then get tagged to sit some more for all I care. It does not matter how good you think you are. You do not make demands like that in your third year on a rookie contract. He's good but his attitude is a problem. The Jets have already said they will give him an extension but then his attitude keeps reminding them why that is a mistake. Jamal's attitude is his own worst enemy.

didnt zeke hold out?

If a team wins a super bowl largely due to their defense it's because they have multiple impact players on that side of the ball. It's never one player away yet we have seen great defenses in the past. It's a combined effort. If you never pay players on D because they won't be the reason you get there, then you're never going to have a good D.

If the report is true that Adam's is willing to wait on an extension and take a hometown discount, I'd be willing to trade a 2021 1st rounder for him.

Although I think the Jets have lost leverage, so a 2nd and a 4th may get a deal done.
Even with a hometown discount the Cowboys would still have to pay a boatload of cash at least near the top of the market.

nope, not giving up a premium pick for a safety. He's a box safety. A very, good one, but I am not giving more than a 2nd rounder and MAYBE a player for him. I would explore trading a guy like Gallup and my 2nd for him and a conditional 4th. So we would get Adams and a conditional 4th.

If I am a young all-pro at any position and starring down the barrel of the shotgun that is being on the Jets longer than I have to I am demanding a trade to. Adams is not a bad guy just very forthcoming.

I've said for a long time that when people want to blame a loss or a season on a single player that it is a team sport and that also applies to using team assess on a single player when that player won;t be the one thing because there are other needs on the defense also.

Yeah, but by the time his cap hit takes effect other players cap hits will be off the board. Like, Lee, Crawford, and Cooper. That's well over 30M right there. I'd be more concerned as to what we'd give up for him. I wouldn't touch our WRs at all unless they want someone not named Gallup, Copper, or Lamb. I think he's worth a late first round pick, but not an early first rounder. We are hoping to be picking late next year, right?

We could start a "Trade Dak for Adams" thread, and kill two birds with one stone!

I once hit a squirrel on the forehead with a nickel. The rodent was fine and I didn't mean to do it, just got lucky. But killing two birds with one stone is near impossible!

It’s hard to say. Cuz technically he has two years left and then tags but if they’re smart trade him now before it gets bad. And by trade him now I mean to us right now lol
