No QB that's been franchise tagged has never re-signed with that team.
This is one reason we shouldve drafted Jordan Love.
The drama continues playing out and hence the speculation.

If Dak plays on the Tag it appears more certain we won’t extend him. Not only this year but beyond.

QBs that have played the season under the tag.

Only two, both signed with other teams.

So if no deal is reached and Prescott plays 2020 under the tag, that's the history both Prescott and Dallas are facing going into 2021.

Good article.

Dak will now be entering a “prove it” year (provided 2020 is a reasonably normal season).

His lifeline, Kellen Moore — aka The Dak Whisperer — has been retained, and he’ll be playing for a proven HC, who’s been given the kind of autonomy JG never enjoyed.

If he plays under the tag he’d better deliver, as any other NFL team which might be interested in signing Dak at the kind of numbers Jerry Jones has so-far been balking at will be watching.

Having said the above, I’ll wager the two sides work out a long-term deal before the deadline.

What are your thoughts on the matter. Do you think we will extend his contract by July 15th?

And if not what then?
Good chance Dak gets a new big contract. Jerry understands it's a big risk to have your #1 player playing on a 1 year tender where injury would be disastrous to your franchise QB. Plus, it sends the wrong message to Dak whom we all know Jerry doesn't want to lose since it would be nearly impossible to find as good as productive of a QB as Dak has been the past 4 years, barely entering his prime years and only getting better.

Exactly, we know how this story ends. The Dez Bryant negotiations went exactly this way. This is how Dallas usually does it and they never lose FAs that they want to keep.

Even in the clickbait article in the OP they say 6 of 8 QBs did sign long term contracts, the other two was Cousins dealing with the Commanders front office and then Brees as a Charger. Brees had injury questions at the time there was still questions where you would have to pay A list money to get a B list player. Brees had one really good season out of four at that point and the Chargers obviously weren't sold on paying him "elite QB" money.

Did you think it would come to this?

Who do you blame more? Dak or the Cowboys front office for not getting a deal done creating this Drama?

When it’s the Jerry Jones Cowboys, everything is drama.

Its absolute crap.

Jerry has no choice but to completely cave per usual.

This this will be an essentially fully guaranteed 4 for 150 deal.

Leta wrap our heads around it now.

Yea but the reason I asked is this segment of fans were so certain we’d extend Dak. And felt he was worth being too paid.

Now that’s it’s more in question I’m wondering if they’re still hunkered down or are they more concerned .

shucks, if he leaves next year, we would likely sign Dalton and possibly lose in the first rd of the playoffs? Dang, if Dak stayed, wed be guaranteed to at least be 8-8. How will the Cowboys survive. We all know he isnt worth top 4 QB money, so why pay him top 4 qb money?
